BOSTON -- Friends and family of a Lawrence man who went missing in Boston over the weekend describe him as "extremely responsible" and his disappearance as out of character.
Friends said Eugene Losik, 25, was out in Faneuil Hall on Friday night celebrating a friend's birthday. He returned to the Long Wharf Marriott where he was staying, and was last seen on surveillance video leaving the waterfront hotel at about 2:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Police, including dive teams, searched the area around the hotel on Sunday and could not find any evidence of Losik.
His girlfriend, Caitlin McGovern, said she hopes he is just suffering from memory loss or is unconscious in an area hospital.
A Boston police spokesman said the disappearance is still considered a missing person case.

It’s been 42 days, and Caitlin McGovern still can’t sleep in the bed she shared with boyfriend Eugene Losik, who went missing in February.
“I can’t sleep in my bed because it’s our bed,” McGovern, 23, said, noting she only recently moved back into the Lawrence apartment she and Losik shared. “I was afraid to go home. I thought it would be too hard.”
In addition to passing out fliers, calling hospitals, chatting up cab dispatchers and searching for billboard space, McGovern and friends placed a missing person ad in USA Today yesterday, hoping travelers might have seen 25-year-old Losik since he went missing from the Boston Marriott Long Wharf Hotel at 2:24 a.m. Feb 10.
If anyone wishes to help write media to update the announcement that Eugene's reward has increased, please contact me. We could use all the help to getting the media involved in updating Gene's case again. Thank you!
