Houston Man Last Seen On Bourbon St. At 2 AM Friday

NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Police Department is requesting the public's assistance in locating a tourist who was last seen on Bourbon Street early Friday.
Police said 54-year-old Douglas Schantz, a Houston resident, was last seen by friends in the 500 block of Bourbon Street at about 2 a.m.
Schantz was reported missing by his wife, Lori, after he missed his flight with his daughter Friday morning. His family advised that this is uncharacteristic of him not to be seen nor heard from.
Schantz is described as a white man, about 200 pounds and 5 feet 11 inches tall with a medium build, blue eyes and short, straight, dirty blond hair. He was last seen wearing a navy blue blazer, white collared shirt and an unknown color tie.
Anyone with information on Schantz's whereabouts should contact the NOPD at 504-821-2222, 911, or Detective Gwen Guggenheim at 504-658-5300.

New Orleans police are planning a news conference for 2 p.m. to discuss the disappearance of a Houston energy company president who was last seen early Friday morning on Bourbon Street.Schantz has been president since 2003 of Sequent Energy Management, where he oversees natural gas asset management, supply and distribution, trading and producer services. He also is a member of the executive advisory board of the Entergy-Tulane Energy Institute based at Tulane University.

Colleagues of a Houston energy company president who was last seen wearing a jacket and tie early Friday morning on Bourbon Street are on their way to New Orleans to try to bolster law enforcement efforts to find him.Schantz was out with colleagues who last recall seeing him Friday between 1 and 2 a.m. at a bar in the 500 block of Bourbon Street, NOPD Assistant Superintendent Marlon Defillo said during a Saturday news conference. Defillo said Schantz's hotel key card has show no activity since 3:30 p.m., Thursday, and that has bank and phone accounts have been inactive.

"Last time he was seen was 2:00 a.m. leaving Razzoo's and on video surveillance he took a right instead of a left, that's all we know." NOPD Homicide investigators spent Saturday afternoon talking with business owners along Bourbon Street. Defillo says "We've checked his bank records their inactive, cell phones their inactive.

NEW ORLEANS - A Houston businessman is missing, and his family and employees are involved in a "hands-on" search to find him in the French Quarter.
54 year old Douglas Schantz was last seen leaving a bar on Bourbon Street.
"My dad is missing, very good guy. Take one of these. If you see him, please pass these out to your friends and family, said 25 year old Michael Schantz, son of the missing man, as he handed out fliers.

New Orleans Police suspect foul play in the disappearance of Houston oil executive Douglas Schantz.
As of Sunday, the 54-year-old executive's credit cards and ATM card had not been used. Schantz disappeared in the Frech Quarters around 2 a.m. Friday, making authorities fear foul play.

Texas-based recovery group joins search for missing energy firm chief

A non profit search and recovery team joined in the search Sunday for a Houston energy company president last seen early Friday morning in the 500 block of Bourbon Street.
Volunteers from Texas EquuSearch were assisting New Orleans police in an effort to locate Douglas Schantz, 54, who was reported missing by his wife after he didn't show up to meet his daughter for a Friday morning flight, according to the company's website.

NEW ORLEANS -- A massive search effort is still under way for the head of a Houston energy company. Now, the reward for anyone with information leading to the return of Douglas Schantz is up to $25,000.
