TX - Amber Alert Canceled; Man Lied To Police
HOUSTON -- An Amber Alert has been canceled by Houston police for 6-year-old Kevin Williams. Police said a driver lied to police when he told them that his nephew had been kidnapped. The man had hoped that the lie would get his stolen car back faster.
The man told police that the boy was abducted at 4:15 a.m. Sunday when the car was carjacked at a Walgreens store in the 7700 block of Bellaire Boulevard in Houston. The man had told police that the boy was sleeping in the rear seat of the 2000 red Lincoln Navigator when two men got out of a silver Chrysler 300 and approached the Lincoln, police said.

OMG!!! I can not believe this guy. How could you ever do something like this. The amber alert is there to help locate children. This guy needs to be punished!!

THANKS for this news. I was reading about the alleged abduction this morning on Chron.com with deep concern about the child. I'm relieved not to have to worry anymore about him, but incredulous that this person would use such a ruse. Makes you sorta hope he DOESN'T get his precious car back.

He should also have to do community service....maybe a few weekends of picking up trash along the highways in the hot TX summer would make an impression on him.

When I first saw the alert, I thought why would a 6 year old be out at 4am? Then the second thought was as soon as whoever took the car realized there was a child in the back seat they would have stopped and let him out; dropped him off where he could be found. Or abandoned the car with the child still in it a few blocks away. Especially in a red car. Car jackers are not interested in kidnapping children.
When I didn't hear any news within a few hours I had an idea something wasn't true about this story. Now I am wondering whether he was really hijacked or he just walked out of wherever he was at 4am to find the car stolen. (or repo'd?)
I agree he should pay every red cent that it cost LE to search for this child and lots and lots of community service.
I am glad to know there was no child involved.

The same basic thing happened here in Flint, MI recently. I'm not sure of all the details, but the guy had his car stolen and tried to say his son was in it, when his son was at home asleep. The state is pressing charges on that guy for wasted resources, and I hope they do the same thing to the guy in this story.

Good grief, can you say IMPULSIVE??? This person can't think ahead to the consequences of his actions any better than a four year old. Wonder what the rest of his life is like?
It'll be somewhat . . . complicated . . . in the near future, that's for sure!!
