Casey Anthony’s parents retain foreclosure lawyer
Cindy and George Anthony could lose their home on Hopespring Drive.

Attorney Mark Lippman is representing George and Cindy Anthony in the foreclosure proceedings, according to paperwork filed this week in Orange County.

The Anthonys' home on Hopespring Drive was foreclosed upon last month by the Bank of America, records show. The bank alleges that the Anthonys have not made their $785.82 mortgage payment since June 2009, leading to more than $7,000 in past-due payments.

Records show that the Anthonys bought the house in 1989 for $90,900.

George and Cindy Anthony have failed to pay their mortgage for nine straight months, according to records. The couple claims Bank of America failed to notify them of their delinquency as required by federal regulation.

The Anthonys learned about their home being in foreclosure last month when informed by Local 6 News reporter Mike DeForest.

State commission: ‘severe concerns’ about Casey Anthony’s request to be declared indigent
The JAC said it is concerned with Casey Anthony’s request to have state funds used for part of her defense expenses

The state commission that reviews and pays bills when public funds are used in criminal cases said it has "severe concerns" regarding Casey Anthony's request to be declared indigent.

Anthony's defense filed a motion last week asking that Anthony be found indigent for costs — meaning the state would pay for certain expenses related to her first-degree murder case.

Anthony recently signed affidavits indicating fees of $89,454.83 and $22,500 have been paid or will be paid to defense attorneys Jose Baez and Andrea Lyon, respectively.

In a legal response signed this week, the Tallahassee-based Justice Administrative Commission said: "Because the Defendant has been able to provide over $110,000.00 in her defense, the JAC has severe concerns regarding the Defendant's indigency."

The JAC attorney also wrote that state laws require the court to consider when Anthony retained private counsel, the amount of any attorney's fees and who is paying the fees.

On Friday, Liz Brown, spokeswoman for Baez and Lyon, said they are not seeking reimbursement for costs that have already been incurred.

In its response, the JAC said attorneys must submit an affidavit attesting to the estimated amount of attorney's fees and the source of payment for those fees.

When Casey Anthony filled out her affidavit, she said the fees paid or to be paid to the attorneys were or are being paid by herself.

Administrators Concerned About Anthony Indigency
JAC Writes 5-Page Response To Anthony's Request

POSTED: 4:23 pm EST March 12, 2010

An attorney for the Justice Administrative Commission said the source of their concern with her application revolved around how much money Anthony has already paid for her attorneys.

The attorney pointed out Anthony has already come up with more than $110,000 to pay Jose Baez and Andrea Lyon, and it's not known where that money came from.

The JAC indicated they want to participate in next week's hearing as Judge Stan Strickland considers the issue. His decision could clear the way for Anthony to begin receiving tax dollars.

In their five-page response, the JAC also indicated they wouldn't pay for all costs, including travel expenses for out-of-state attorneys.

WFTV learned Friday that a woman said she had a relationship with Casey Anthony’s father, George Anthony and that woman was questioned by detectives. It turns out that woman looks a lot like the description George gave detectives of Zenaida Gonzalez, also known as ”Zanny the nanny." Skye Benhaida told WFTV that her sister provided investigators with information that she was having an affair with George Anthony that started soon after Casey was arrested. She said it lasted for about a year.

Benhaida said George told her sister that Caylee's death was an accident that snowballed out of control.

The sister of the woman who says she was George Anthony's mistress said George apparently used her sister as a model for what Zenaida, the alleged nanny, looked like; apparently, right down to a tattoo that her sister has. The sister also told WFTV the woman has taken a lie detector test and was questioned by detectives for hours.

WFTV asked George Anthony’s lawyer about the issue and he said he's not received any information from investigators about it. Also, he would not answer any direct questions about whether George had an affair with the woman, but he did not deny that it happened.

Meanwhile, two new motions were filed Friday in the case and neither of the documents are good news for Casey’s defense team.

Judge Stan Strickland denied Casey's attorneys request to stop the Orange County jail from videotaping their visits. Her lawyer's said the security video intrudes on their attorney-client privilege, but the judge didn't agree. Lawyers for Texas EquuSearch filed a motion responding to the defense.

The alleged mistress “looks a lot like the description George gave detectives of Zanny the nanny,” WFTV anchor Bob Opsahlsaid. Casey Anthony had said she left her daughter with a nanny named Zanny. Belich’s source said George had modeled Zanny on her sister, down to a tattoo.

George’s affair started shortly after Casey Anthony was arrested, and the woman shared “intimate” photos and text messages of George with detectives, Belich said. The alleged mistress has also taken a lie-detector test, Belich said.

In one of the more amazing passages in the story, Belich said, “She [her source] told me her sister gave George almost $5,000 over the course of their affair and was told by investigators George had taken money from other women as well.”

Belich said she had no response yet from George Anthony’s lawyer.

'Concerns' About Casey Indigent Request
Anthony Asks Taxpayers To Foot Bill For Defense

POSTED: Friday, March 12, 2010
UPDATED: 6:06 pm EST March 12, 2010

According to JAC attorneys, "Because the defendant has been able to provide over $110,000 in her defense, the JAC has severe concerns regarding the defendant's indigency."

In recently filed court papers, Anthony acknowledged spending that much money on her legal defense so far, although it is unclear where that money came from.

At a hearing next week, the Judge Stan Strickland will decide if Anthony is eligible for public money, which the state sets aside for people who cannot afford to defend themselves.

In their written response, the JAC pointed out that, under state law, the judge must find out how much the attorneys are being paid and who is paying those attorney fees.

Because of that, next week's hearing could give insight into who has been paying Anthony's legal bills until now.

George Anthony had a yearlong affair with a woman and told her that granddaughter Caylee’s “death was an accident that snowballed out of control,” WFTV-Channel 9 reported tonight

Why didn’t WFTV name the woman? “The source is highly credible and will be proven as such soon,” WFTV news director Bob Jordan said. “The other shoe is about to drop.”

What does that mean? Stay tuned.

WFTV’s hard-charging Kathi Belich quoted the woman’s sister at length in her report, which led the 5 and 6 p.m. newscasts tonight. Is it a one-source story? No, Jordan said.
