Chris de Burgh has spent nearly £30,000 on buying the "chest bursting" Alien from the classic sci-fi film.
The latex dummy was seen bursting from John Hurt's chest in the 1979 movie.
De Burgh paid £29,875 at a London auction for the piece which auctioneers Bonhams had estimated would fetch around £12,000, reports the BBC.
Frantic bidding for the lot, described by Bonhams as "an iconic piece of science fiction film history", more than doubled the price.
The singer said: "I bought it because I believed it was a defining moment in cinema history for its sheer horror.
