Soon after Javaughnn Johnson stopped at a Checkers fast-food restaurant in Miami Gardens in January, he drove away in his car and spoke with his girlfriend on his cellphone in what police say was a distressed call.
Moments into the conversation, the call abruptly ended.
Two months later, Miami-Dade homicide detectives are asking the public's help in locating Johnson's whereabouts, though they fear the 28-year-old man may be the victim of foul play.
On Friday, Miami-Dade police released a picture of Johnson and that of a car similar to the 2004 blue Infiniti G35 he drove on Jan. 16, the day he disappeared.
``Things aren't adding up,'' police spokesman Detective Javier Baez said. He said Johnson had a good job, no money problems or feuds with family or friends.
Police said Johnson disappeared after dropping off two friends in the the area of Northwest 153rd Street and 24th Avenue. Minutes earlier, about 3 a.m., he was at Checkers, a Miami Gardens fast-food restaurant near Northwest 27th Avenue and 183rd Street.
He was last seen driving east toward Northwest 22nd Avenue, police said. He called his girlfriend about 3:30 a.m.
The Infiniti, with Florida tag 147JVX, has not been located.
