LINDEN -- The remains of two bodies were found in several garbage bags in Linden at about 9:45 a.m. this morning, though the identities have not been released, according to police.

“Our public works people were picking up garbage,” said Linden police Detective Lt. James Sarnicki. “One of the garbage bags appeared to have part of a human body protruding from it.”

The sanitation workers found the bags at the corner of Essex and Cranford avenues, by Peach Orchard Brook.
Sarnicki said the body parts didn’t seem badly decomposed.

“Decomposition wasn’t so bad they couldn’t tell it was human,” Sarnicki said.

LINDEN, New Jersey (WABC) -- Body parts were discovered in plastic garbage bags on the side of a residential street in Linden, New Jersey, Monday.

The gruesome discovery was made by sanitation workers on Essex Avenue, near Cranford Avenue, just before noon.

Police say the bags contained the bodies of a man and a woman who had been chopped up. People in the neighborhood are wondering if they will ever feel safe again.

"I'm upset, I'm very upset," homeowner Carol Thomas-Garretson said.

Thomas Garretson said the bags had been lying on the curb next to her home since last Thursday. But with the Easter holiday, she didn't call to have them removed until Monday.

CNN) -- Authorities in Linden, New Jersey, have launched a homicide investigation after the discovery Monday of a pair of trash bags containing the dismembered remains of two people, officials said.

The medical examiner has confirmed the body parts are "indeed human," the Union County Prosecutor's Office said in a news release.

"There were two bodies found inside trash bags near the intersection of Essex Avenue and Cranford Avenue," spokesman John Holl said in the release, adding that the remains are from adults, one male and one female.

Yellow police tape surrounded the scene Monday afternoon, tied to the tree trunks lining the quiet residential street where the black trash bags were discovered earlier in the morning.

Linden Mayor Richard J. Gerbounka, who was at the site, called the shocking discovery "very unusual for this area."

"We've got the homicide investigative team out and they're in the process of culling the area for evidence," he said

Authorities said they were not sure how long the bags had been there, but neighbors reported seeing them on Thursday.

Where did you post your thread. LOL, Sorry about that.

I wrote about this earlier today so you can just go ahead and delete it I guess. I heard it on the news at noon and it is so strange. At that point they just knew it was a body they didn't know it was 2. Wow how scary.

Dear Lord!

This world has become so evil. I hope the autopsies will reveal the identities of these two people and their families can give them a proper and dignified burial.

Then catch the murderer and bring him/her/them to justice.

makes me wonder how many mutalated bodies end up in the land fill each year.

"Authorities say they have identified the two victims whose body parts were found inside trash bags in a residential neighborhood on Monday morning.

But the identities are being withheld until the victims' families are notified, said Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow. Additional information on the case is expected to be released this afternoon, Romankow said."
