Police Search for Missing Special Needs Teen
Authorities are asking for help in finding a special needs teen who has been missing since Wednesday afternoon.
According to Chief Mike Pomesky, Shelby Wengerd, 14, of Perry Township, walked away from her home along the 4900 block of 14th Street SW around 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Wengerd is an MRDD student at Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities. According to Pomesky, Wengerd functions at the capacity of an 8-year-old.

Endangered Missing Child Advisory Issued For Canton Girl
An Endangerd Missing Child Advisory has been issued by Perry Township Police for a 14-year-old Canton girl who may be in danger.
Shelby Bryanna Wengerd was last seen in Canton on Wednesday. She is a developmentally disabled student that functions at about an 8-year-old level. Shelby was having some personal and school issues when she ran away.

FBI, state patrol join search for missing Perry girl
The whereabouts of a 14-year-old Perry Township girl remain a mystery Friday morning as township police continue to track down leads in the search for Shelby Wengerd.

“She hasn’t been located, and we still don’t have anything definitive,” Deputy Chief Brian Carbenia said.
Perry Township police are being assisted by the FBI, Stark County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Highway Patrol, a representative of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and neighboring police agencies.

Missing girl found
Shelby Wengerd, 14, was found unharmed around 7 tonight in the area of 15th Street SW, not far from where she lives.
“She is fine. There are no health concerns,” Police Chief Mike Pomesky said.
Wengerd is to be evaluated at a local hospital, Pomesky said.
