Kamsack RCMP is asking for the public's assistance in locating a missing 13 year-old boy.

Ira Preston Cook went missing on Saturday March 5, around three o'clock near the Cote First Nation rink.

Cook is a resident of the Pikiwek group home on the Cote First Nation. He is described as 5'5'' and 150 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes and has burn scars on both hands.

He was last seen wearing a black or dark brown jacket and blue jeans. Cook also has family in the Stanley Mission/Laronge area.

I can't help but feel if Ira was a little blonde girl with blue eyes dressed in frilly little clothes, there would be a lot more media attention surrounding his disappearance.

Where are you Ira? I hope you are just hanging with friends and staying safe.

THREE MONTHS and not a peep from LE or the media.

Do folks just not care, or is there a reason they are not providing updates?

Does Ira have any history of running away?

Is Ira in some kind of trouble that we don't know about?

This is a 13 year old boy for crying out loud. Oh yeah ... I forgot ... Ira is native in case we didn't notice.

Cook was last seen at a carnival inside the rink of the Cote First Nation.

Cook was a resident of the Pi-Kiwek Group Home on the Cote First Nation.

Here's another young fellow, Douglas McKay, 15 y.o. who went missing from the same group home in November 2011:

No updates online, and can't find a single thing to indicate if either Ira or Douglas have been found. It's like there's one brief press release, then nada

In 2004 when Tamara Jewel Keepness disappeared from Regina, there was all sorts of coverage (rightfully so). Within the same week, an 11 y.o. boy named Sheldon Blacksioux also disappeared from Regina, and there've been no updates on Sheldon over the years, absolutely nothing further indicate he's been found. There is a person with an online presence whom I believe to be Sheldon, but it would be nice if LE could give updates on some of these cases.

I've sent an email to Angela Hill, News Director at CKOM to enquire if they have any updates on these boys.

Well almost 3 weeks has gone by, so I guess Ms Hill is far too busy to respond, or doesn't give a hoot to look into this matter and let us know.

Douglas McKay is the runaway from Kamsack and would have been 16 at the time. This boy's body was found in a vacant lot, not a suspicious death, it would have been below freezing this time of year so he likely froze to death overnight. I wonder if this was him. There are no obituaries that were published in the newspaper for this boy which is odd, considering he was so young.

Yes, that's weird Danaya. Douglas went missing November 2011, and this find in Dec 2012 is referred to as a "sudden death". If it is Douglas, where was he for a year before he is found dead?

Just received a reply from Ms Hill that her court reporter is looking into this and sorry for the delay.

Thank you Ms Hill .. and sorry to have sounded so snippy in my prior post. We just get exasperated when we feel nobody is caring about these kids.

We look forward to hearing any news about these boys.

I thought maybe he was a runaway and eventually ended up sleeping outside. But it's probably a coincidence. I was unable to locate anymore information on the person who died (neither local newspapers publish obit) or on Douglas McKay. I am looking forward to hearing back if they have been found.
