Police in Thunder Bay and Indiana know that Spakowski made it to the Elkhart RV factory on June 30 to pick up a 30-foot Hartland Country trailer valued at about $25,000.
Accompanied by his little black-and-white dog, the single former millwright was driving a 2007, grey Chevy Silverado pickup.
|
He picked up the Chevy Silverado but did not get on the toll road heading home. There is no indication that he went back to Canada. When he left for his trip his sister said he had been complaining about heartburn and numbness.
He is 5'10" with medium build. Partly balding with grey hair.

He checked the company credit card that was given to Spakowski and found that he did stop at one of the same gas stations near Indiana that he always did. He last used the credit card in La Porte, Ind., on June 30 at 3 a.m.
Hartland RV confirmed that Spakowski checked in with them around 7 a.m. the same day.

Trying to locate a picture of him.

Police say there's no indication Mr. Spakowski has come back into Canada.

Kat, since it seems Mr. Spakowski went missing somewhere in Indiana, I think the thread title could include that info ... or perhaps change the prefix from Canada to IN? That way more people in the US will be aware of his disappearance and keep an eye for him, his dog, his new RV or vehicle he was driving ... Just MOO

Here's a picture
There's a picture of him in this recent news article (sorry, not sure how to actually post it within the body of a post, feel free to do that).
http://netnewsledger.com/2011/07/06/...sing-man-case/
It doesn't sound very good, the fact that he was complaining of symptoms that are common of a heart attack, prior to leaving. I wonder if, on his way back, he was feeling very poorly and pulled over somewhere and laid down in the trailer. Hopefully Indiana law enforcement is really searching high and low for him. A 30 ft trailer would be hard to miss if it went off the road....though not sure of the terrain around there in Indiana....is it mostly flat land or any valleys and such?
I assume he has a cell phone; can't they ping it or try to track him from his cell? (or maybe that's only possible if cell is turned on, or has been used, I'm not sure).
I sure hope they find him and his little dog soon, both safe and sound.

UPDATE: Mr Spakowski found deceased, says sister
Very sadly, on the FB page for Ed Spakowski (the one created with respect to him being missing), his sister has sent a message there that him and his dog were found deceased, no other details of when/where/how/why. In searching for an official news update article on it, I could only come across this one, which really just refers to the above message on the FB page:
http://netnewsledger.com/2011/07/07/...at-my-brother/
It's likely not hit the news yet; would make sense that family/his sister would be the first to be notified. So very sad.

I just wanted to add this. It seems he was located in Illinois. I feel so bad for his sister. He and Keiko looked so cute and happy. I'm a sucker for animals, and people who love them.
