Last seen: August 24th, 2011
Last known location: North Beach California
Police Report filed with: Newport Beach California Police Department
Height: 5'
Weight: 105 lbs
Hair Color: Brown with blonde chunks of streaks
Eye Color: Brown
Believed to last be seen at a Blockbuster Store in North Beach, California reading a book. Erika is diagnosed with Biopolar disorder and Schizophrenia. She is in need of medical assistance and may be without her medication. Erika was evicted from her home in the days leading up to her disappearance. Her family and friends are terrified.

I have a son with schizophrenia so this case is especially close to home for me. I know this family is extremely worried....praying Erika is found soon.

I am waiting to see if family needs help constructing a flyer. I would think dropping them at shelters and hospitals with mental health facilities would be a good start!
ETA: Better yet, LBPD could issue a BOLO for her and it should hit some of those places as part of the process.

My heart is just breaking!!! As a bipolar myself, I wish I knew if she was on an upswing or a downswing...how fast she cycled, etc. It may have nothing to do with her disappearance, but mixed episodes, etc. or mania could have lead to an impulsive decision that led to something worse =(

I know the family and according to her Aunt, she was acting very strange lately. Very paranoid towards everyone and started to push away her friends. A few days before she went missing she was reported to be delusional and not on her medication.
No one has heard anything ever since. They are creating FaceBook and Twitter pages to get the word out but unfortunately it's not that easy when it's so early

Glad to see Erika getting some MSM attention. though, I am disappointed the dailypilot didn't include her photo. 
Praying she is found safely soon! I'm very concerned about her emotional condition someone could easily take advantage of that. Call home and be safe Erika!

Bia, do you know if Erika's fingerprints would be in any public databases for any reason? This would speed along her identification if she is somewhere that she cannot speak for herself.

I am not sure but I will definitely ask her family. They are flying out to CA this weekend to help search for her.

Closer to locating Erika
Family reached out to me and let me know that there was a sighting of her in CA as recently as 9/4/11. She was seen in Huntington Beach at the corner of Main and Walnut Street.
I received this email indicating what facilities are now on the lookout for Erika-
"I have spoken to all hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, police and fire departments in Orange County. They are all on alert and have current pictures of Erika and the families contact information."

Breaks my heart she hasn't been found - glad there was a sighting though (if truly her). That gives me hope. I really hope they get the volunteers they need...I posted it on my FB for friends in CA. =(

I don't understand the sightings. If people see her and know she's missing, wouldn't they go up to her or call authorities? Or does it mean they saw her but did not know she was missing at the time.
They should also speak to all homeless shelters and talk to the homeless community to see if any of them have seen her.
