The victim was located on Forest road 1090 in a rural area south of Coyote, NM.

This 1944 case of a woman missing from Phoenix was recently made public in NamUs, although her casefile was created in July 2011.

She was said to have left Phoenix to go to Texas. So New Mexico would be a logical end point.

The resemblance is pretty good IMO.

Granted - It's a longshot. But does anyone suppose that "years prior" could mean 64 years prior?

the term could apply to ancient Native American remains, although that is probably not the case here.

Yes, I did submit it to Det. Somershoe of the Phoenix PD back on 22-Sep-2011 . He replied as follows:

Melissa Montoya went missing in Rio Arriba County, New Mexico she was last seen alive on 3/16/2001 according to NamUs. There isn't a lot of information about her, she was 5'7 not 5'6 though and there is no picture.
