MO - AMBER ALERT: Lisa Irwin, 10 months, Kansas City, 4 Oct 2011 - #7

2. If I have harmed my own child and had a cell phone with me when I was hiding the body, I would definitely want to be rid of the cell phone. I might even claim they were stolen by whoever took my child.
I really hope these parents are innocent and they get their precious little baby back. But this just looks hinky to me. Sorry.

Right there with you. It isn't out of the realm of possibility that a kidnapper might steal a phone as an easy way to get in touch with the family. But, the husband had just come home from work. I don't know too many people who pay for a phone that they can carry with them, then leave it at home. It would seem likely that the husband's phone came home with him. Of course I could be wrong, and I hope I am. But it does sound hinky.

Can someone repost the link to the news site with the interviews, vids, and pressers? I know it's here but omg you guys are moving so fast. I can barely keep up reading. I've decided sleep is optional because I've been catching up at night. Tia!

I would have to keep reminding myself that LE's job here is not to work for the parents but to work for Lisa. It is impossible to put myself in the place of a parent with a missing child so it's hard to guess how I would really react under such horrific circumstances. Unfortunately, it is human nature to become defensive when facing accusations (whether they are valid or not). The fine line for me is whether a parent is more concerned about finding their child than explaining or defending themselves. I'm just guessing, but it is possible that is a test LE has to apply as well.
That is what disturbs me so much in cases when lawyers get involved with the parents. Their job is to represent the client - not the child. The goal is to defend - not find the missing child. I hope that doesn't happen here.

I think I'm overdosing on WS - was just answering email and, after my friend made a very good point about this case, I looked for the "thanks" button. Gmail doesn't have one. Good grief.

Interestingly I mentioned on here yesterday that taking the cellphones sounded more like something a teenager would do.
I still haven't made up my mind. As someone who get's intuitive "feelings" about people, the mom hasn't convinced me yet that she was not involved. Neither has the dad. There is something about mom, that bugs me and I can't put my finger on it just yet.
However, even though Deborah said that the baby would go to anyone, I wonder how a sick baby, would act in the arms of a stranger, I have had four kids, and I have grandkids and I believe that baby would cry if she was sick and a stranger woke her up.
OTOH, the teenager could pick her up and Lisa would probably go right to her, if she was used to seeing her, and being held by her.
If it was the teenager, I would have more hope that the baby is still alive.

I don't know if it was the last time, but a grandparent was quoted in the news as saying she had been at a family gathering celebrating a birthday on Sunday.

10:30. The mom checked on her before she (the mom) went to bed.
Ooops I'm sorry, I didn't read it clearly.
Yes, the bday party.

Sorry, Shelby, I meant an independent sighting outside of someone in her household. Did a neighbor see her playing in the yard that day, or with her mom at the drug store, or anything that we can say she was defintely seen alive that day before she went missing?

Now after looking at the picture again, I do think the crib was examined closely and the mattress removed (at a minimum). If you look closely, you can see the left end of the mattress isn't even lying flat but looks as if it may be just been dumped back in there.
ETA: Also, the bumper at the right end: it is only a few inches above the top of the mattress. The height of the mattress may have been moved up and the bumper not adjusted, or the mattress may have been dumped back in there and not pushed down all the way. I'm now thinking that this is not the 'crib-as-Lisa-slept-in-it' but the 'crib-after-LE-went-over-it-with-a-fine-tooth-comb'.... MOO

I agree with scrapping the poly in this case. My son failed one too...given by LE in a case where he was accused of theft. He was grilled mercilessly and a few days later, the accuser located the item he said my son had stolen....it was there in his home all the time, just misplaced. So yes, innocent people do fail them.
The glaring things I cannot get beyond are the unusual ones.
1. The door unlocked on hubby's first night at work.
2. The lights on....what kidnapper does this? None.
3. The kidnapper had to spend time in the house....no one woke up.
4. All the cell phones kept in the same location in the main room without one being
taken into the bedroom with mom? Who cares about reprogramming. Cell phones
are extremely portable. I don't know anyone who wouldn't carry a phone into
their bedroom at night if they were alone with 3 children and hubby was at his
first night on his new job....unless they had a house phone in the bedroom.
5. No scent of baby outside that could be followed. Don't know what to make of
this. Doesn't sound right to me.
6. Dad's version of checking on the kids. Logic would say you would stop at each
child's room as you go down the hallway, which would mean checking on Lisa first.
Also, if he did check on the boys first, would he not freak when one of the sons
was not in his bed? He was sleeping with mom, supposedly...so his bed would
have also been empty.
