Although police sources did not positively identify the man, they do believe he could possibly be linked to an abandoned vehicle recovered in the area about 1 year ago. The bones appear to be about a year old.

The vehicle recovered did not have license plates, so police are using the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in attempting to locate the owner. Police also indicated that a long gun was found near the body as well.

The decedent has been ID'd as 59-yo John Schultz from SW Mo. The cause of death has been ruled as suicide. Authorities are trying to find out why he was in the area.
