When I first saw this, I immediately thought of Lynn Catherine Schulze

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...lze_lynne.html
Anyone think this sounds plausible that she would be hanging out with an escaped fugitive? Perhaps she was held prisoner.
Obviously the ring with the 1917 grad year on it did not belong to the Jane Doe. It might have been an heirloom.

BBM. JNHS could be J_____ N______ High School. I looked at Junior National Honor Society, but that began in 1921. Also...if she was hanging out with or captive with a fugitive, it is possible the ring was just an item stolen during a robbery, etc.
I also looked at the phone numbers on the phone bills from the link provided. Is there anyway to trace those? Just curious.

I found this newspaper article detailing the murder trial against Donald DeFreitas. DeFreitas was accused of murdering Carmichael and the Jane Doe, and the two bodies were found behind DeFreitas' home.
The murder allegedly occurred on December 31, 1970. If that's true, it would rule-out Lynn Schulze.

I was working on my post and researching so I didn't see alot of the information being posted. Patricia Jane Seelbaugh would also be ruled out if the murder occurred on December 31, 1970.

Ilonka Cann resembles the Jane Doe somewhat.

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/c/cann_ilonka.html
Any chance that she would leave a husband and child to hang-out with Carmichael?

I'm a little surprised at the lack of info on NamUs. Found an article that has more vital stats for the female:

I found an article about Gustavous' body being pulled out of a swamp along with an unidentified female body. This article states that she had red hair:

I noticed several phone calls made to numbers in Pennsylvania on the phone logs. I think Patricia Jane Seelbaugh bears a resemblance. The hair length and color on the unidentified remains is unknown.
http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/3009dfpa.html
Circumstances of Disappearance
Patricia was last seen on Friday, October 26, 1973 in the company of friends at the Barkeyville truck stop in Barkeyville, PA. The truck stop is located off of Interstate 80 just east of Interstate 79.

If the December 31, 1970 murder date is correct (as alleged in DeFreitas' trial), then it could not be Patricia.

... but the school wasn't named Jim Ned High School until 1957. Prior to 1957, it was called South Taylor High School, and before 1948, it was Tuscola High School.

Any chance the red hair is colored from the elements? For example there are 'bog bodies ' in Ireland of people that are completely preserved from hundreds upon hundreds of years ago but their skin is tanned and hair red because of the chemical makeup in the peat. Just throwing it out there.

Wow. Good Job. Jim Ned HS consolidated in 1957...before it was 31 small schools.
The only other thing I could think was perhaps...It was some strange popular ring design...where certain things were "backwards". If that was the case...NJ...New Jersey High School. Class of 1971? I can imagine a strange fad of mirror like or reverse images. I guess...if we could see the pictures reaslly well on the ring...to see if it is dated. But...the lettering on it looks pretty dated...1917 seems about right.

maybe it's not a high school at all but the Junior National Honor Society. strange they'd make a big deal of that and make a ring for it.

National Honor society was established in 1921. JNHS was started in 1929...

it is possible there was a smaller HS called Jim Ned before they consolidated but they would have been tiny schools.
the N might stand for North so any town back in 1917 that had a north and south HS could be in the running.

The only thing I could think of with the ring was perhaps it was a momento or something taken by the fugitive she was with. It is possible they were engaging in petty theft or home robbery to get money. So...the ring could be a item stolen. Perhaps, she wore it in a wedding ring fashion to make them seem like a married couple...

This might be it - the description at the Namus profile says this:
The letters are J H N S or J N H S
so it could be the Johns Hopkins Nursing School or Johns Hopkins School of Nursing (depending on how one reads the fancy letters)
