Presumed Located OH - Ariell Butterworth, 18, Boardman, 7 Feb 2007

Missing since February 7th: Ariell Butterworth from Boardman, Ohio.

Ariell S. Butterworth, 18, a mother of two young children, spent the night of Feb. 6 with a friend on Willow Drive and when the friend awoke the next day, Butterworth was gone, police said. No one has reported hearing from or seeing her since, said Detective Sgt. Steve Riwniak.

She doesn’t drive or have a car and is believed to have left on foot, he said. Butterworth is black with brown hair and eyes. She’s 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. She has tattoos on her back, neck, right wrist and ankle, both shoulders and her chest.

Anyone one who has seen Butterworth or has information about her whereabouts should call Riwniak at (330) 729-2077. (www.vindy.com)

Was the friend a male or female? Did she take her purse, cell phone and any other belongings that she may have had there with her? She has two children. Has she ever just disappeared before and left her children for days without calling anyone? This is another one that isn't sounding good. I hope and pray that I'm wrong wrong wrong.

I have no idea about the questions you're asking... I've asked the same thing (in my mind).

Some more info in the paper (www.vindy.com) today:

She was reported missing by a Liberty woman who was her foster mother. The two children also are with the Liberty woman.

Butterworth, a dancer at The Palace in Coitsville, also is bipolar and hasn't been taking her medication.

The young mother has family in Columbus but they tell police they haven't been in contact with her, Riwniak said.

The only Ariell Butterworth I could find on the 'net came up on a Butterworth family website. I didn't post this yesterday, but now the police have said she has family in Columbus, I wonder if this is her:

I edited out the stuff where she names her family and part of her email address, just in case it isn't her. I did send an email to the email address she listed. Not expecting much of that, though.

That is interesting. I wonder how old she was when she was placed into foster care. Maybe she has some info about her bio family and is trying to find them.

That might not have anything to do with her missing though. Seems like the same as a lot of other women...she just walked out the door and disappeared.

Of course if she hasn't been taking her meds won't she either fall way down in the pit of depression or go way high into a manic phase? Can someone who knows tell us please? I know she has to go in one direction or the other so she is probably having big problems about now. She could have just taken off especially if she is high into a manic phase. She could be looking for her family and hasn't even thought of contacting her foster mom or have thought of her kids.

This gal really needs to be found though and gotten back on her medication.
I hope that she is safe and no one has taken advantage of her state of mind.

Some very worrying news on there, too:
Her home was found unlocked, with many broken items (including photos). She hasn't been at work, and has not paid her rent. Ariell has not contacted her family, including her two children, and they are very worried about her.

I so hope she's somewhere safe....

ETA it says in that link that she's missing from Youngstown, don't be confused by that, because Boardman practically is in Youngstown.

In the info at the link I posted it says she may be depressed, and also that she has a history of cutting....

Okay in one of the links above (vindyblogs) there are a few comments. One is from a Mrs. Sue Espurvoa, she says she's Ariell's aunt. Here is her comment (clicking on the date takes you to the original):

Thank you - I appreciate the name of the aunt. I did some searching on her and found her facebook, which had a listing for an Ariell, but it is a long odd name, I went there and actually the pic looks like her. I think it is and I think she is ALIVE~!

What do you do if you found a person that is listed in all the missing databases, alive and well and living a normal life? I am not positive it is her, but it would make sense. I just need to know where to go from here.

Has anyone ever followed up on this case because the myspace set up for her appears to be wiped clean of pics and a message is there.

This was also done while missing, and no one caught it actually. So, is there a lead on her whereabouts or has she already been found? Surely whoever was in charge of the myspace would have noted this, so did they and did they report it? WOW!

Is looks like she took it over briefly and wiped it out.

I just got off the phone with the officers in the jurisdiction of this case.

Here in lies a huge LOOP HOLE that needs corrected immediately!

Since she was a runaway, or if she was, as a child, then as they age into adult - they are removed form the system.

She is NOT listed in their system, she is listed as no longer a missing child (I forget the jargon - sorry), but I questioned him about the meaning. I asked if that meant she was found, and he said no. He said since she is an adult, that she can be wherever she wants to be and so they remove her from the runaway or missing child database, and she is not listed as an adult missing person. So she could be found, or she could be still missing theoretically, but there is no further data and there is no longer a case for her or whatever.

I actually don't get this at all.

To me, someone is missing until they are found, so if they are not found, they are missing. Doesn't that make any sense?

I would like to know what to do??

If this is the case, how many children run away, are listed as missing runaways and then at the age of 18, just get dropped off the radar. I understand adults have the right to be wherever they want, but children do not and if they are missing as a CHILD, they should be looked for until they are found - no matter the age.

Please advise me on this, I really need it. I have a reason for needing to know as there was a body found between where she was last seen and where you all say her bio family lived. This person is yet to be identified, but has similar characteristics.

I hope she was found safe somewhere though.

It is a different name, but plenty of plenty use aliases and made up names on FB. And it's very possible she is just going by a different name? Especially given the nature of the name, which could very well be made up.

Besides being an Ariell and the photo similarities, she has the same birthday of October 18 listed on FB.

It does appear that it could very well be her.

Send a note to NAMCU along with a link to her face book and a copy of any conversations. They will follow up.

We will not remove her until we have a media or LE release or she is listed as found on NCMEC site.

Let me or any of the mods know if you need a hand.

ETA: I did a quick search on NCMEC for females from Ohio in the last 5 years and she did not come up. Then searched by her name and no records were found. So she is not on NCMEC's list.

ETA: I also did not find her on NamUs.

Ariell is still listed as missing according to NAMPN - Here is her case file along with contact information for the agency currently investigating her missing persons case. The detective listed at NAMPN might not be current, but the agency will be and can connect you with the person currently handling Ariells case.

turns out Ariell has to contact NAMPN herself. I have given her the information to do so, and she has stated that she will. To let everyone know she is a beautiful lady and is doing wonderfully.
