Awesome! If he is from NC - doesn't look like he's listed as missing. Maybe be 18 or more?

Summerlin and Sullivan both sound like last names. Maybe they called him that as a nickname? So his name could possibly be Jason Summerlin, Jason Sullivan, or maybe Jason Sutherland? I did searches for all three born in NC but didn't come up with anything yet.

I tried the same, searching as if it were a last name, or even anything that sounded familiar. I emailed the administrator at the high school that was mentioned. I will let everyone know if I recieve a reply.

I remember reading that blog a few days ago. I tried looking for that school and even googled for pictures that mention it and scanned over them didn't have any luck though. I am anxiously waiting for the administrator to call you back

I wonder if we can get ahold of the person who gave the "tip".

I emailed the person who is in charge of that website. Hopefully they can get us in contact with "janice" who wrote that.

If we can contact Janice, then maybe we can find the person who gave her that information.

This is the email I got from the owner of the site linked above: (I requested any information regarding the person who posted or how I can get in touch with her)

"I can send her an email, but I can’t give hers out. However, if I remember correctly, I sent this to the detectives here and they said that they have already checked it out and it was a dead end. I will look for that email as well."

That comment says he attended high school in 1972? If we assume the average age range in high school is 14-18 years old, that would have made our Jason Doe 37-41 years old when he died in 1995.

I'm not saying it isn't worth looking into, it can't hurt, right? But I'd be floored if the age estimation was that far off.

I'd be shocked if it were that far off too. I can understand if he is a little older than the approximation, but not by that much. Perhaps she wasn't too sure about the 1972 part.

Even if she wasn't sure about the 1972 part, and was perhaps off by a couple of years, it would still put "Jason" ridiculously past the estimated age range. I could see him being born around 1972 (making him about 23 when he died) but I can't imagine a medical examiner/other specialists looking at the body of a 35-40 year old man and concluding he could be as young as 16, and not older than his early 20's.

But hell, crazy things happen. If our Doe looks so much like some guy that went to this high school, maybe it is a relative of his. Can't hurt to take a look.

I don't think the ME would make a mistake about his age. Also the poster states she thinks he had a birth defect that made him have a limp. That would have been found too at the autopsy, if a complete autopsy was done.

I am just going on past descriptions of UID's that state "may have walked with a limp"

Exactly. Especially when you consider that, given how soon his body was recovered after he was killed, that the medical examiner would have been looking at a "complete" body. We're not talking about skeletal remains or even remains that have been exposed to the elements for months -- in those cases, I can imagine that age estimates can be a little more difficult to narrow down. Severe injuries from the accident aside, I'm still sure that to trained medical professionals, it was obvious that they were looking at the body of a young man.

I'm not going to ridicule someone if they want to devote their time to pursuing this tip, but personally I see it as very implausible.

If you look under "Most Recent Classmates To Join", the last name listed is "Jason Southerland '78". http://www.alumniclass.com/whiteoakhs

Thumbs up

The high school is less than an hour from here.

If they do come up with a yearbook and you need someone to pick it up and scan it, let me know.

Most libraries carry local yearbooks for the highschools. Just a FYI

White Oak HS has yearbooks available online for 1972, 1974, 1975, 1978, and 1986 on Classmates.com. I don't follow this case very closely, but for those who do you can sign up for free to get access to view the yearbooks. Here is a link for the 1972 yearbook.

if he was much older than he might have been estranged from his family and that's why no one is looking for him (the older you get the longer the ties are broken the less people care about you or look for you because they think you are just gone somewhere)
