ANDERSON COUNTY — Authorities are searching for a missing man an investigator said is suffering from several medical issues, including depression.
Anderson County Sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Reeves said the wife of William Randall Smith of Gentry Road in Starr told investigators on Thursday that her husband had not been seen since around 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Reeves said Smith was last seen in his white, 1986 Ford E-150 van.
Donna Smith told investigators that she believed her husband was carrying a pistol, Reeves said.
She told investigators the man was dealing with medical issues, including depression.
“Mrs. Smith told us that Mr. Smith has been dealing with several health issues and may be in an abnormal state of mind,” Reeves said.
Reeves said at least three Anderson County sheriff’s detectives have been checking in at several locations Smith is known to frequent, and detectives from the Hart County Sheriff’s Office are assisting in the search for the 54-year-old man.
“We just want to make sure we put it out there and let people know to be on the look out for this man,” Reeves said. “We take every missing person report very seriously.”
Anyone who has seen Smith or has information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office at (864) 332-5453.
