I have that same concern about the Grateful Dead fan. I seem to remember a Disappeared episode where the victim was initially ruled out, and then they re-examined the case and found a match.

one of my friends was listed as a rule out, they stated it could not be her because this person was african-american after 10 years of agony for her daughters, guess what ....it was her !!!!!! so you are correct , you just never know!

Do you have a link that explains the differences? I'm not finding what I'm looking for

This link may tell the differences; I don't have time to read through it

Roselvr & Carl ?????? help a girl out plz :)
OK, I am totally confused , I thought CODIS had the auto rule outs but NAMUS did not work that way , I swear I just read that on another thread, no of course I cant find it, am I wrong?

On the Doe Network website, the area code for Bradley County is listed as 615, but it changed to 423 many years ago...in case anyone has more info for the Bradley County Sheriff's Office.

You are correct TNMom...Bradley county area code is now 423, but Shotgun Jane is in Knox County which is 865

Tammy Daniel?

Some interesting reasons to consider her and some drawbacks too.

SJD: 21-30 yrs old. Tammy: 24 years old
SJD: 5'5", 120 lbs Tammy: 5'7", 130 lbs
SJD: Bwn. Hair/Eyes Tammy: Bwn Hair/ Blue Eyes per Namus, unknown per Doe

SJD: Scar on abdomen, possibly C-Section or hysterectomy
Tammy: Scar on abdomen from spleen removal

SJD: Found in Knox County, TN, picked up at Greene county rest stop.
Tammy: Last seen in Beckley, WV (3hrs away)

SJD: Found June 1, 1987
Tammy: Last seen June 2, 1987

Drawbacks: 1) SJD has BH tattoo. Picture on Namus with good view of Tammy's arms shows no such tattoo. Could have gotten tattoo after pic was taken, but no tattoo mentioned in her MP report. 2) SJD had metal plate/screw in leg from past injury, along with other previous skeletal injuries. Not mentioned in Tammy's case file. 3) Tammy last seen one day AFTER SJD found. Could have been an estimated date last seen, or typo or the date the report was filed.

Possible plus: Where the Doe skeletal drawing in Namus shows crushed vertebrae seems consistent with being near where the spleen would be located in the body also. Might make sense that those two injuries could be from a single incident.

Well, this is interesting maybe, too. Tammy's mother is listed in this article as Norma Hensdill: http://www.wvnstv.com/story/1698633...s-after-disappearance-of-raleigh-county-woman

So Tammy's maiden name was possibly Hensdill. Norma's spouse (presumably Tammy's father?) was Robert Hensdill. If he went by Bob, then you've got a reason for Tammy to maybe have a B.H. tattoo - maybe a tribute to her dad?

ETA: Seems her dad's full name is Robert Jefferson H. and he goes by Jeff. So still possible, but less likely. Her grandmother was Ella Bell Dunn Hensdill who passed away in 1985. If, like her son, grandma went by her middle name of Bell, then the B.H. would make sense as a tribute to grandma. It would also make sense if grandma passed in 1985, and how it could be a more recent tattoo and not be in older photos of her. I know it's reaching, just trying to think outside the box.

I assume they're looking at her...

Tammy Daniel DNA Status: Initial inquiry underway

I don't think it means they are looking at her for this case. I think that is pretty standard procedure to get a DNA sample. I wouldn't think they'd have much trouble. Both her parents seem to be living and articles from the last few years indicate her mother is very much still looking for her.

Namus says Tammy's spleen was removed. SJD's autopsy clearly shows she had a spleen. However, as this article shows http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1079560/, spleen can regenerate under some unusual circumstances. Ironically, the most common circumstance is when the spleen was originally removed due to trauma and not disease. The article explains how it happens, and it makes sense. So, if in fact SJD is Tammy, that could not be a automatic rule out.

But there is the date discrepancy, the eye color discrepancy, the spleen discrepancy, and the fact that there is no mention of tattoo or medical harware in leg for Tammy. That's an awful lot of misfit pieces. But what kills me is the stats are dead on, timeline is so close and given where they picked her up, it's easy to see someone coming from Beckley ending up there. I think I will put in a call to Tammy's MP detective. Perhaps he can follow up on these details. Obviously we know it's a rule out if he gets contradictory answers. But if he finds out that yes, Tammy did have a BH tattoo or yes, she did have a plate in her leg, I think he will be the one wanting to take this further.

ETA: Seems from reading that some people have more than one spleen, and that a partially removed spleen can grow back.

Don't know whether this one's been suggested (just Googled "shotgun jane doe"+"burnette"), but Mary Jo Burnette looks at least superficially like SJD's reconstruction. Height, weight, hair color, eye color line up all right. Burnette would have been just shy of the lower limit, age-wise. Doesn't have a NamUs entry.

No mention of surgical plate or tattoo, but might have received those (as well as surgical scar) later at any rate. "Teeth crooked" and "right upper central incisor protrudes," which doesn't appear in sketches of SJD.

Charley entry, linked above, says that Burnette was arrested in 1984, not reported missing till 1989. SJD has fingerprints in NamUs, so if Burnette had prints taken when she was arrested, would be possible to compare. Pics at Charley show no earrings at the time they were taken, when she was 16/17.

I started typing another post this morning then switched to my other computer..

I wondered about the shirt. I have multiple pages open looking to see who was good enough on the Dolphins to get a shirt made with their number (32) but didn't really come up with much.

Dolphins shirts are hard to get in some states. My hubby is a fan. I wonder if it was bought local or if it was her's or someone gave it to her. I wish I could find more of her online, larger pic of the shirt. I asked hubby if he knew who wore 32, he did not. The shirt probably doesn't matter, but you never know. It does not look like a Dan Marino jersey I found from 1984

Apparently her face was just reconstructed right before this post was originally made
blog? It says: Jul. 25th, 2008 at 11:58 PM I put her skull back together last Wednesday.

What was left of it link to comments page

She had an injury history, I'll say that. Both legs plus wrist & clavical have been broken as well as back problems.

SJD is now on the FBI VICAP Unidentified Persons page
I'm upset by the lack of them listing all of her scars; they also do not list the Isotope states :(
