Perhaps I have missed this in the past but I found what Peter Brandt said about the torso versus LISK to be very interesting. Particularly his theory that the torso killer may have moved his victims to Gilgo because he was angry that the killer of the GB 4 was getting too much attention. I think that they're multiple killers involved.

Not that familiar with the area, can you describe how to find it on the map?

Flushing Queens. I'll try to find a map.
I'm new to posting on here. I have been following this case for years, Amber Costello lived apx 3 blocks from us, and we've had private passes to Babylon beaches for years. I decided to register with websleuths on Feb 19 2016 in an unbelievable horrible irony that night the tenant who occupied the other side of my house stabbed his girlfriend to death. Her mother and I discovered her body and his attempted suicide the next day. The detectives who were on scene at my house are now the leads on LISK. Very, very nice guys. Dedicated. Just thought I'd put that out there I felt a little weird not disclosing that. I admire all of you so much, the work you do is amazing.

In my estimation the unsub serial killer in Long Island would be a white male, 45 to 55, smooth talker knows how to entice women, no heavy New York accent, physical in good shape, strong hands and arms most likely from his work, very street wise, very mobile during the week possibly a truck driver, knows the roads in Metro NYC, hates women but lives with one most likely in Queens NY, has a separate location that he works out of also most likely in Queens NY which has been central to everything, when he was younger lived near Gilgo Beach or his parents took him there often, most likely his parents are dead, possible military training knows how to kill, most victims were strangled, knows police counter surveillance techniques, uses untraceable drop phones to communicate with sex workers, he will have a number when he calls on caller ID but it will be untraceable to a fixed location, changes and buys cell phones frequently at places like 7-11 stores, owns a large automobile with big trunk like a late model Buick or a pick-up truck to transport bodies, most likely he kills sex workers in one location and then travels to Gilgo Beach area to dump bodies. One big glaring question, sex workers travel by car with a driver who drops off and picks up and acts as backup muscle, this is SOP, where are the drivers in all these unsolved murders????

Has anyone checked "escort forums" most likely forums pertaining to NY escorts?. You'd be amazed at the amount of info you could fine, especially in sub forums for NY street workers and/or out calls etc etc
Many, many times. ;)

Hello. I remember something about one of the last people that contacted Maureen Brainard was a police officer that lived in Staten Island. Wonder if he was properly investigated, or was cleared just as easy as Dr Hackett
Oh, and what hotel was she staying at 46th street? Dunno, I'm pretty sure Miss Bainard case is the one that could crack LISK case open...

I'll admit I've had a cocktail so my tweeting will either be hilarious, tragic, embarrassing, or just plain OK.

Here is an artist's rendering of what I look like drinking a Martini. Yes, I do resemble Christopher Walken when I drink...sometimes.

Remember, go to www.twitter.com and the hashtag is #TheKillingSeason

This is FABULOUS! Cheers! Congrats again:toast:

Bessie, could we perhaps get a "sticky" thread posted with the basics of the case for quick review? Victim X found on this day, ID/no ID, basic description, etc. I have never dug deep into this case until now, and I'm guessing there will be others coming in for the first time as well. So much info in so many pages of threads to try to wrap my head around. :)
I'm working on just such a summary. It will take a few days to complete, though, because of the amount of data. Even the basics are a handful, and if I'm going to do it, I want to do it in a way that makes sense and is easy to follow.

A&E The Killing Season Episode 6 "A Killer On The Road" Nov 26th at 10:00 pm, I hope will be a must watch episode.
Agreed. I think (hope) it will shed light on just how many murders of sex workers (and others) around the country are unsolved, and the communication flaws in the system.

Awesome documentary and it's so sad. :(. If there are 2 killers, do they know each other? Are they playing a sick game?

Jumping in to say that I watched both episodes last night. Great job Rachel and Josh! You are 2 very brave souls. Be careful getting into strangers cars, you guys had me TERRIFIED!
I'm off to read the rest of this thread, I'm happy that I found it. I was thinking that I couldn't be the only one who watched it...nobody was posting in the announcement thread.

Hi all, I'm new. I love this series so far! I didn't get a chance to watch episode #2 yet. I just want to say that I find it extremely odd that Shannan's 911 call was never released, even to the family after "accidental death". I call bull crap! Also, did the houses she called 911 from not let her stay? Did she run out afterwards? Maybe I missed something there.

I am bipolar and I feel like someone in her family would have noticed her erratic behavior beforehand. My family and friends ALWAYS know considering your personality and behavior change drastically.

Actively is an interesting word. I don't think Josh and I can separate ourselves from the case and cases we investigated in the show. I immersed myself in the LISK case for years. I'm no longer driving to Long Island every other weekend to interview people but I still read every article, speak to family, press, LE (when they'll talk), I hope we get something we can "investigate" out of people watching the show.

That's what I meant. You are planning on following up on possible tips. That's great! Thank you. So many unsolved murders in FL alone. I am especially looking forward to the I-4 coverage, besides the DB 4 of course.

Anyone with a tip should contact the Suffolk County PD, at one of the numbers listed here.

Or, contact the FBI, and submit a tip form or call a field office

A day before the fifth anniversary of the discovery of the first body, police announced the FBI will take a more prominent role in the homicide investigation to take a “fresh look” at the case.

Do you think the perp picks the women because they are escorts and that is part of why he wants to kill them, or, does he target those women because they are easier for him to access and less likely to draw attention if they are missing?
Could be both if we're talking two or more killers. IF there are at least two, I believe the one who dismembers has deep rooted anger, possibly related to his upbringing (i.e.,mother issues, hates women, can't look at them without insufferable guilt).

The second, IMO, is an opportunist who picks victims who are 1) easy prey; they approach him; and 2) little or no effort is made to find them. A dead hooker is just another dead hooker. This is one I believe roams the country along the eastern seaboard from NY to FL. JMO Others may travel different highway routes.

ETA: I'm still hung up on the number of bodies found barefoot, or with only socks. I can't wrap my head around that being a coincidence.

Yea Peter knows his stuff and when he has a theory he usually has the evidence to back it up.

Someone should go talk to Joel Rifkin about what he thinks is going on out there. Bet he has some useful insight.
