Identified! CA - Dana Point, WhtFem 23UFCA, 18-23, cliff jump, Sep'87 - Holly Glynn

I was informed today that Linda Rose Grimm has been ruled out as a match for the Jane Doe. Pretty disappointing as I figured with all the similarities between them it was almost a sure thing.

I'm not yet sure how the rule out was done, though I presume dentals as both women have them on file and I am not aware of any DNA for Grimm.

Minor update: I was just informed that they "can't release that information" as to how to rule out was made. That seems pretty odd to me as I can't see why it would be beneficial to keep that a secret.

Darn. Do either of these cases have threads on WS? If not, we can close this as RULED OUT and start a thread for the missing and separate thread for UID for more sleuthing?

I don't believe either has a thread, so that sounds good to me.

Originally this case was posted by Ada Wong as a possible match to a missing Linda Grimm. That match was ruled out as can be seen here.

We closed that thread and am started separate threads on each case, the Missing and the UID (you can find Linda's case now here)

I've been doing a ton of searching trying to find any possibles for this case. Here are the people I've found so far that I can't seem to eliminate as having a possibility of being this Jane Doe:

http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/2735dfmn.html - Mary Lynn Andersen

Andersen lived in California at one time, had a prior pregnancy, and also had brown eyes and a slender build. DNA is pending in her case.

http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/38dfva.html - Hazel Alice Klug

Klug has a similar shaped jawline to Jane Doe. Her hair is strawberry blonde. Her listed height and weight at the time of disappearance is only one inch and ten pounds off. No information on a prior pregnancy or dilation and curettage.

http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/1352dfaz.html - Alison Marie Mims

Light complexion, appears to have freckles. Has strawberry blonde hair, height and weight are exceptionally close. Cut marks on both wrists indicative of self-injury.

And the following, largely because I don't have enough information on them to disqualify them:

http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/168dfar.html - Darla Melissa Harper

Harper is a probable murder victim. However, she does have brown eyes, light brown hair, and a prior pregnancy.

http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/23dftn.html - Debra A. Murr

Described as having blonde hair, though honestly it doesn't look even vaguely blonde in the pictures. Seems to have a jawline similar to the composite. Really not much information on her otherwise.

http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/26dftn.html - Jennifer Wyant

Similar hair, brown eyes, very close height and weight. Wyant also appears to have a strong jawline. There isn't much information on her.

Bump because this is currently off the front page, and I'd really like to hear some thoughts on this.

I think Ali Mims looks like a good possibility, but I don't see much resemblance in the face. I see it more in Mary Lynn, though. The suicide rate of epileptics has increased, also. Anyone remember Ian Curtis? How could we forget.

Update. I found an article about Mary Andersen that seems to indicate that she was ruled out as being the Jane Doe. Apparently Andersen's sister had the same idea I had though.

http://74.125.77.132/search?q=cache...udes/printer.cfm?id=15928&hl=en&gl=us&strip=1 It's available here in google's cache at the moment. Don't know how long it'll last.

Relevant part:

Ketter said since making contact with the sheriff’s department and having the case made active again, she’s gotten several apologizes from authorities who didn’t think the case was important. She also found out the Jane Doe on the television she kept seeing was not her sister.

“It was a relief, but I was so sure it was finally over,” she said of being torn between knowing it wasn’t her sister found dead and yet not having some closure.

“I felt bad that the unnamed victim and the photograph of Wendy’s sister likeness was eerily similar. The dental records, however, proved that conclusively it was not her. That was kind of a rollercoaster for the family,” Gordon said.

I'm wondering what people think of this possibility. I realize that she's too tall and too old to fit neatly into the description of Jane Doe, and she's not from anywhere near the same area.

The pictures do make me think she probably looked quite a bit younger than she was, and overall facial shape, hair, and freckles seem correct. She also suffered from depression.

I thought it was worth considering. Does anyone have thoughts on her or any of the other possibilities I offered?

Of the links that you posted, I think Jennifer Wyant sticks out the most for me. But I looked at all three links for this Jane Doe and two have her height at 5'4" but the last site has her at 5'8". Do we know which is right??

I am looking for more possible matches, too, and will post when I have some.

5'4" is correct. I don't know why the Unsolved Mysteries site lists her at 5'8".

Here's the side by side pics!

Sorry I just read where Andersen has been ruled out, so ignore that one!!

Here's a somewhat larger version of the photo of Alison Marie Mims.

Was really thinking about this case again, and wondering if you found anything, or if anyone had any thoughts or hunches for that matter.

I have always been interested in this case, and I am frustrated by the lack of information available about this woman. Her profile says that they can tell she's had a child, but it doesn't say if she has any scars, prominent moles, birthmarks, etc... I don't know anyone who doesn't have some identifying mark.

I really wish we could view photos of her. It would be nice to know how accurate the rendition is.

I think that the answers are in San Diego. I think that's where the girl found/ was given the purse, and it makes me think that's where she's from. I wish they would have circulated her image at women's shelters, homeless shelters and high schools in San Diego county. I would suggest posting the picture and her case details on San Diego's craigslist, but we have no idea how accurate the drawing is.

I guess there's the possibility that she stole the purse, but I think it's more likely that she got the clothes she was wearing and the purse at a homeless/ women's shelter or a salvation army. It just sounds like the kind of outfit you'd cobble together with what was available.

I actually did exactly that a few months ago. Only one person replied to the message, and it was to tell me that she thought my post had "cruel intentions". I still have no idea what she was talking about. Posting might be worth another shot, however.

Where exactly on these lists do you post? I have 2 of my UID who I think might benefit from the same thing but whereabouts on these lists exactly do you post and how?
:waitasec:

After another round of Craigslisting, I got an e-mail from someone using a throwaway e-mail account. They claimed they knew who the woman was, and that she's Alexis Christina Owens. Attempts at further contact received no reply. Personally, I've looked at Owens before; I don't think it's her. I would love to know when her California arrests were though. Obviously if they were after September 20th, she could be speedily ruled out.

I did take another look at several other missing women though, and I came across Debra Frost. I think she's somewhat unlikely, but a few things did stand out to me. Of course there are Frost's pierced ears, freckles, similar hair color, and apparent penchant for hitchhiking; however, the thing that strikes me as the most interesting is that both Frost and Jane Doe were wearing blue size six shoes. Nonetheless, it's difficult to imagine that none of Frost's numerous scars would have been noticeable after the fall.
