Very High Profile TV Show Needs Your Stories About True Crime Cases
Hey Websleuths members,
Please take the time to read this. The producer of this very popular show is looking to Websleuths.com to help with stories. Read up and don't hesitate to write the producers.
`````````````````````````````````````````````````` ```````
*The producers of a popular true-crime cable documentary series are
looking for new homicide cases to profile in their second season.
Investigations must have taken place between 2000 and the present, and
the killers must already be convicted of the crime.
Generally, cases that took longer than a few days to solve are
preferred. The program utilizes high-tech 3D graphics to illustrate
complex investigative techniques (such as forensic testing, or the
tracking of a criminal's movements via cell phone towers) and so cases
that were solved using advanced or unusual police methods are best.
Most importantly, we're looking for cases with solid police work and a
lot of twists and turns.
We'd be most grateful if WebSleuths.com community members would email their
ideas to joe@digitalranch.tv. Please include the names of the victim(s)
and the perpetrator(s), and as many details about the case as possible.
We are very appreciative of your tips!
thinkin', thinkin', most of the cases coming to mind have already had doc's done.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Maybe search 'convicted of murder' and find stories from 2000 to present, then research and see which are most interesting as far as forensics?
I think the case of Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach would be ideal. Lauterbach, 20 -- who was eight months pregnant -- was reported missing from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. She was found murdered and buried in the yard of her killer, Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean. He was apprehended in Mexico.
Do they have to be homicide? I have a good one but it is an international kiddie porn ring in small town.
Agreed.. that woman grew up very close to where I'm at.
It would be much better than most of the Lifetime Movie of the Week schlock.
Tonight, on Lifetime... Meridith Baxter Birney, Lynda Carter, and Farah Fawcet get pissed off and set fire to the homes of every man that have beat them with sticks.
Hehe.. j/k
I would recommend the Charlie Myers' case.
A deaf guy from Columbus, Ohio steals a car there while the owner is attending a concert. The car's owner is from Dayton... 60 miles away.
Myers then goes all the way to Dayton a week later in an attempt to rob the household.
This jerk kills a young mother... steals a bunch of well.. just "stuff".. then abducts her young son... possibly molested... then drops him off at a rest stop to be found by LE.
The Mark Jensen case would be great. He poisoned his wife (Julie)with antifreeze becasue he wanted to be with his trampy coworker (Now wife and rasing Julies children!) It took 10 years to convict him....Great DA never gave up on the case.
Lotsa shady people, lies, poison, sex, murder....it's got everything.
Send me the check if you use my idea! HAHA
Alright, alright.
Here's the first story I sent him.
Robert Bruce Spahalski
Robert and Stephen Spahalski, twin brothers raised together in childhood but separated by decades with one isolated in prison, may be excellent study subjects to determine why people develop the tendencies that make them murderers.
Robert Bruce Spahalski, 51, has been accused of murdering four people, three women and one man, over a period of 15 years, the first in 1990. Four charges of 2nd degree murder have been entered against him: for the 1990 killing of Moraine Armstrong in Rochester, NY; the 1991 killing of Adrian Berger in Rochester and the killing of Charles Grande in Webster, NY; and the 2005 killing of Vivian Irizarry, 54, in Rochester.
The second one is this guy;
Arthur Shawcross
In most cases, the victims of serial killer Arthur Shawcross were strangled, battered to death and mutilated. Years later Arthur Shawcross claimed that he had cannibalized some of his victims. He told a British reporter that he had sliced out and eaten the vaginas of three victims, and also that he had eaten the genitals of Jake Blake. A good deal of doubt has been cast on these claims though with a lot of criminologists feeling he was just trying to impress the reporter.
Arthur Shawcross was caught in 1990 when police intentionally left the body of this final victim where they found it with the idea that a criminal will always return the scene of the crime. The police were right and serial killer Arthur Shawcross we caught when he was spotted masturbating in his car that was parked on a bridge over the creek where his victim's body was floating. He was arrested and eventually confessed.
What's really interesting is that Spahalski's first murder was in 1990 and Shawcross' last murder was in 1990. I don't know if there is any overlap or if they occurred a few months apart. Still a fascinating tale for either one.
I'm a little wary of sending these because it will make Rochester look like the murder capital of the world and it's not.
The murder capital of the world is Cabot Cove, Maine.
Great Idea drjoe, and we have several posters here who have had life stories that surly are documentary worthy.
We have a Poster here who is taking care of her sisters children because her bipolar or otherwise mentally deranged husband killed her sister and he is now serving time.
That type of a documentary can serve as an educational with warning signs at the end to help people understand or recognize when it is danger and not just a bad mood. It would also help the sick person see what consequences can be when they are not medicated.
I would agree if it had a conviction.
I would also say the Anna Nicole Smith case which also has no conviction yet.
Did Darryl LittleJohn ever get convicted for the Imette St. Guillen murder? If so, that case might meet their criteria. Esp since they used cell technology to triangulate LittleJohn's location around the time of the murder, the murder/disposal was exceptionally gruesome (i.e., media types seem to like gruesome), and there were a number of interesting twists that came out during the investigation (i.e., both bouncers being ex-cons, the Murder Inc ties, etc).
This is story idea that I sent in...
Dear Joe,
Please consider doing a story on Rick Clay, a Missouri man currently on death row for a crime that he did not commit. You can read more here. http://www.rickdclay.com/
Another Missouri man, Joshua Kezer, was prosecuted by the same infamous Kenneth Hulshof. Kezer was exonerated on Feb. 17, 2009 and released a day later after spending 14 long years in prison.
If this story seems like something you would be interested in following, I can connect you with his family who are desperately searching for a miracle.
Sincerely,
Lori Ann
It's too bad they don't include an unsolved murder in each episode, there are so many out there that need the exposure (personally I'd like to see Chuck Mauk's profiled)
