Time idle

The last 2 nights while reading posts, I find myself logged out. In some cases I even posted in between and sometimes not.

Up until Tuesday or Wednesday, I had no problem. I did have my settings to be able to read 40 posts per page and the first time I got logged out thought that might be it. So tonight I changed it to 25 and still got logged out while reading.

It would be helpful if I could find out how long idle before changing pages, so if nothing else I could go to next page before too long idle, and then go back and finish reading the page.

Thanks for any info you can give me.

The same staying logged in probs are happening with me. I thought it was my computer settings. I had recently changed some software. I can't help but you but I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that this has started happening to.

15 minutes.

I check the box to stay logged in and have zero problems with this as a result.

I had this problem when I first started, too.

Then I realized that if I hit the little check box that says "Remember Me" when I was signing in, I would stay logged on without fail.

So, always remember to check the "Remember Me" box.

Thank you for the reply. I thought checking that meant you were always logged in, so that the next time you came to the sight you didn't have to log in again.

I'll check that box now, if I still can while logged in.

New posts

After this, I promise not to ask any more questions, hate being a pest.

Since I did check the remember me, I was not logged out. However, I lost my 'new posts' icon to click on. Is there something in my edit options I can do something about that?

TIA

What do you have in your menu bar between "Calendar" and "Search"?

New Posts. I was just looking at the help page about this.

The administrator can also set up the forums so that each thread you read is marked in the database. If this option is set, then new threads (or threads with new posts) will not be marked as read until you have actually read them.

I did notice my 'last visited time' changed from 7:33 pm for yesterday, to 10:11 pm tonight. I logged in about 5 to 10, so my checking 'remember me' did keep me logged in, but I use my User CP subscribed threads to go find the first new post in those threads, but when I finished reading a long thread, and still had several more new posts from those threads from last logged out to read. All that was there now, was this thread with your above reply.
Sure hope I explained that right. What I marked in red above is what I'm not getting.

ETA I just clicked on New Posts on top menu, and it only started with tonight's new posts from 11 PM.

Yeah, that option is pretty cool, but it puts a major load on the server and is not practical with this size of a forum. We tried it a while ago and as soon as there is a breaking story things really bog down - the vBulletin folks admit as much.

Here's what I do:

--I have my options set to auto subscribe to threads I respond to, with a daily notification.

--When I log in, I go to my CP to get the list of subscribed threads with new responses;

--For each one, I open it in a new tab (so I can have 20+ tabs going)

See if that works for you...

Thanks again. On another vBulletin forum it is set that way, and I got to thinking that, yes, this is a much busier forum and I do understand. LOL, ok well, I don't have 20 I'm subscribed to and I do that that auto subscribe set.
Ok, I'll do the tab thing, LOL, never thought of that.

Editing posts

I don't want to start a new thread about this so I'll put it here. I'm just curious why there isn't any time allowed to edit a post without that little "last edited by..." appearing underneath it.

I just posted something at 2:46pm, went to add something and at 2:47pm the little message appeared. The post I'm referring to is on Somer Thompson's thread, but I've noticed this has been happening for a few weeks now.
