No Arrests, But Tip Line Remains Busy in Somer Thompson Case

Over 3,700 tips have come into the Clay County Sheriff's Office as they try to find the person responsible for the 7-year-old girl's murder. A recent update on America's Most Wanted helped generate more calls from the public about the case.

At any given time, the Clay County Sheriff's Office could have between five and ten people processing or investigating tips. Lt. Barry Abramowitz is the lead investigator on the case and says they've received tips from as far away as England.

"There's no such thing as a bad tip," said Lt. Barry Abramowitz, the lead coordinator for the case in charge of dissecting the information that comes in. "Everything's evidence. Sometimes you'll get a tip on somebody that may not have anything to do with the case, but that's important. We want to make sure they did not have anything to do with the case."

Abramowitz said investigators have gotten lots of meaningful tips to follow up on immediately and others they hold onto just in case.

"If we have a tip that came in from tipster No. 1, we may not know anything about what that means unless until we get a tip from tipster No. 10, and then we say, 'Oh my goodness, right here, that's it right here,'" he said.

When asked if the investigation was becoming a cold case, Abramowitz said the sheriff won't let that happen.

Police: All tips on Somer's killer are evidence

For the first time in a couple weeks, someone from the sheriff's office is talking on camera, but, "I cant discuss any part of the investigation," said Lt. Aberamowitz.

All Lt. Barry Aberamowitz would comment on is the tip line and how they figure out what leads to follow and what ones are a bust.

"You have immediate, priority, routine, and no leads. It's my job to determine which is which," said Lt. Aberamowitz.

He does that by figuring out if it's a tip they've already investigated or if it's brand new. Then he sends out investigators, to talk to people or collect evidence. They did just that at a house on Gano Avenue just after Somer's body was found. They've taken all that evidence to do scientific testing.

The mother of a 7-year-old Florida girl who was kidnapped and murdered thinks she knows what happened to the little girl who trusted everyone too much, no matter how often she was told about “stranger danger.”

“She just loved everyone. She was very trusting. She just trusted everyone and she just assumed that they wouldn’t hurt her,” Diena Thompson told TODAY’s Meredith Vieira Thursday from Jacksonville, Fla.

“I think that’s exactly what happened. They lured her over and did what they did, and she fought back once she realized this was not a nice person,” Thompson continued.

“I hope that maybe it can help one parent not have to feel this pain, because it’s truly unbearable,” Thompson said. “And I don’t want people to forget about Somer until this thing has been caught and justice has been served.”

Tuba, I do believe I'm infatuated with this gift of yours! I sure wish I had the same capabilities as you and the other astros. Maybe it's time I learn more, since I'm so fascinated with this awesome thread - I've asked my husband for books on astrology, beginner books on how to do astrological charts, & books on forensic astrology - for Christmas!

With regards to Kuhn and his alibi, maybe we need to focus on tearing apart his alibi. Is it possible to chart the initial thread that could unravel it? In other words, could a chart merely suggest where we could begin? I'm game & I'm certain others will help, also. Or should we just sit back and wait for everything to unfold? Does the chart even inform his alibi won't stick?

An alibi is merely a personal utterance in one's own defense until it is corroborated and we saw--at least I hope you read it--that WLK's biker gang is ready to alibi him and perhaps has. An alibi requires evidence to substantiate it and the testimony of others provides that. We cannot deconstruct or demolish his alibi, jersey girl, until we know what it is. Where does the gang member place him? A relative of Debbie R. may be supporting WLK's version of his whereabouts also.

So Tuba, this could be why there are no charges against WLK, as of yet... Is that correct? Because we know from the charts that someone ( or some people) have given him an alibi? I hope we have justice for Summer- I am sick of these monsters getting away with their brutality. Do the charts show weather the perp will come to justice? Didn't the chart show the alibi(s) unraveling?

Thanks for all you do! Sorry if I should know this... I follow so many cases now that I am mixing them up at times... so sad that there are so many. I am afraid for my own children, a lot, these days.

I only read the same stuff you did. I have no idea what the exact alibi is, waiting for it to be reported on indepth, so I can rip it apart. If it fits, I'll drop it...but if it doesn't you can trust me that I won't take the media's word on it and I'll disect it to no end. Thanks for your fast response...

Tuba and soulscape, I personally believe the police know who did this and they have their man in custody (just like with Nevaeh), but they need to be able to make this stick. I believe this is often the case. Knowing and proving are, unfortunately, NOT the same thing. Can any of the charts tell us if LE thinks they have their man?

Festival remembers Somer Thompson, safety for kids

It seemed no child was too young to be fingerprinted and photographed for identity kits no parent ever wants to use. Others shaken by the 7-year-old's disappearance and death handed out brochures and promised to try and tighten laws against those who prey on children.

Organizers are planning for the festival sponsored by Rockers Against Sexual Predators to become an annual event.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office is still receiving hundreds of tips a day in the Somer Thompson murder case.

Investigators plan to continue to operate the tipline around the clock for as long as it takes.

Lieutenant Barry Abramowitz says the total number of tips is now up to almost 4,000.

Abramowitz is in charge of reading every tip and assigning it a priority.

He says they have received good tips that are being used, but he would not talk about specific details.

They're waiting for certain scientific evidence to come back from certain unique labs around the country. They're putting great resources in to this, and this is really the perfect time for anyone that knows who did this or for the person that did this to help heal the wound that he's caused, not only of this family and the community, but, in fact, the nation. So I think that's just a matter of time before this is resolved and justice is done."

A motorcycle ride will be held Saturday to benefit Somer Thompson's family and try to set a world record for the largest such poker run against sexual predators.

The run will begin at 10:30 a.m. at The Bayard Rooster, 12661 Phillips Highway, Jacksonville, and end at Whitey's Fish Camp on County Road 220 on Fleming Island.

Somer Thompson Case Update

The investigation into the abduction and murder of Somer Thompson is ongoing and remains a large scale, multi-agency effort, according to Mary Justino with the Clay County Sheriff's Office Wedesday. Agents from the FBI, FDLE, U.S. Marshal Service, and NCIS remain assigned to their team locally and continue to reinforce our investigative efforts with their expertise and manpower.

"Waiting on lab results is part of this process," said Sheriff Rick Beseler. "The results can take weeks to return and cannot be rushed or hurried because this is information that will point us in the right direction and tell us where to go."

Sheriff Beseler commented that, with a case like this, information is unfolding slowly. He describes the case as being far from "cold". "This case is not a cold case...not by far," Beseler said. "This case remains hot with emerging leads and many pieces of evidence. Our team is very active and will remain so for weeks to come", said Beseler.

Somer Thompson's Neighborhood Still Reeling from her Death

One month later, a memorial still sits across from Somer's home. There are candles and notes left by friends and strangers.

Those who live near Somer's family say their neighborhood has changed forever and they don't feel safe anymore. Groups in the community are planning to come together and organize a child safety event for sometime after the holidays. Details are still being planned.

Detectives said they are waiting on lab results, hoping that some of the evidence will lead in the right direction.

The police did follow a methodical procedure in working this case but one step in the continuum is missing, the step represented by 1° Scorpio. Something, some one thing, that should have been done was not done. 1° Scorpio falls in the Seventh House of your horary. House 7 deals with people involved one way or another and what they know has not been thoroughly plumbed, Scorpio.
