Sheriff's lieutenant faces 120+ counts of child rape (FL)

I've been keeping an eye on this case -- today's new news is that this POS has been charged w/ add'l counts of child rape on a different victim....details of how he had access to these girls is in the arrest report but **warning -- graphic** details...I'm guessing people thought this pig was "such a nice guy" because he liked being around kids, babysitting, etc...ugh.

A Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s lieutenant who has been in jail since Tuesday is facing additional charges.

John Mitchell Tomlinson, 46 of Navarre, was charged with five counts of sexual battery on a new victim, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Tomlinson was initially arrested Tuesday for 120 counts of sexual battery on a child between the ages of 12 and 18. He will be tried in Walton County because he was the head of Santa Rosa County’s court security when he was arrested.

Sheriff Wendell Hall placed Tomlinson on paid administrative leave when he was arrested, according to Marc Ward with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Tomlinson is expected to remain on leave until the criminal process is resolved, he said.

"If these allegations are true, I will be very disappointed in Lt. Tomlinson’s behavior," Sheriff Wendell Hall said in a statement. "However, if he’s found guilty he should be punished like any other person that commits this type of crime."

When questioned about why Tomlinson was not put on leave when the allegations came to light back on March 3, Ward declined to comment. Ward said he would provide an answer at a later date. At press time, the question remained unanswered.
