The area they were searching has been dubbed 'Trash Lake' by locals, where piles of discarded beds, clothes, mattresses, car seats and the like are dumped without care.

Family and friends tell FOX13 News Memphis Police found Thomas' missing car last Sunday. Investigators searched for clues inside the car, but found no signs of foul play.

"We're left clueless and we don't know what to do, but were not going to give up."

Human remains found off road near DeWitt Spain Airport

Whitney Avenue was blocked in both directions Wednesday as Memphis Police crime scene investigators scoured a wooded area just off the roadway.

At one point, Chopper 5 watched as one detective reached his hand into the brush where a human skull was reportedly located. Several others bones, including ribs, were found nearby.

Of course, at this point, this could be practically anyone, but judging from where it was found, alongside a road near the airport, I wonder if it's an elderly person who wandered away and got really lost. There are a few people in Memphis who've gone missing within a hour or so walk, including LeRoy Butler.

This man wasn't really elderly, but he left on foot and had some mental troubles:

If his death is a homicide they will not have closure until the police can figure out who did it and then they will have a trial. What an ordeal for that family. If the case goes cold, then the family will never know who did this to their loved one and that's not closure.
