and I think a lot of people are going to come forward looking for their 15 minutes, too...

Mind you, I'm not saying that he isn't faking - just that neither of these young women is qualified to make a diagnosis. Nor am I, for that matter.

It's going to take a thorough review of his history, in conjunction with an extended period of medical observation before I think we'll even begin to understand what makes this guy tick. One thing is certain, at least in my mind - Mr. Loughner should never, ever be free again.
 
I don't know if Jared Loughner is faking or not, but I think it is important to keep an open mind that he just may be faking. I keep thinking of the movie Primal Fear in which the murderer duped everyone into believing he had gone temporarily insane.
 
I personally have never believed anyone who does something like this can be sane. But that's JMO, not in accordance with the legal definition of sanity, I guess.

"Loughner checked into the motel at 12:29 a.m. on Jan. 8, police said, before criss-crossing the city buying ammunition, developing pictures and stopping at gas station convenience stores. Loughner, wearing a baseball hat, approached the hotel's check-in window, made of bullet-proof glass, and used a credit card to rent the room, paying $43.71, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

Arizona law enforcement officials said Friday they have several photos of Arizona rampage suspect Jared Loughner posing with a Glock 9mm pistol, dressed in a bright red g-string over his naked buttocks, the New York Times reported.

The gun appears to be the same one Loughner is accused of firing in the shooting Saturday in Tucson that left six dead and 13 wounded, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

Loughner reportedly took the film to Walgreens to be developed on Jan. 7, the day prior to the shooting, and afterward, the store handed the photos over to local police, the Times reported. Some of the photos have Loughner holding the gun near his crotch, while others appear to be shot in a mirror, police said. They were unsure when the photos were taken.

TUCSON - As the grocery store in the Tucson shopping center that was the site of last week's shooting reopened, doctors on Saturday announced that they had removed Rep. Gabrielle Giffords's breathing tube.
Doctors at Tucson's University Medical Center said Giffords (D-Ariz.) remained in critical condition and was recovering as planned. A surgical procedure known as a tracheotomy was performed Saturday morning, they said.
The "tracheotomy tube was placed in her windpipe, protecting her airway and freeing her from the ventilator," according to a statement released from the hospital. Surgeons also inserted a feeding tube to provide nutritional support.
Doctors said these procedures are common among brain-injured patients.

That's a really good New York Times article! Thank you very much for finding it and linking us to it.

One of the things I have wondered about on my own, having read articles about him, but not seeing it specifically addressed was his relationship to women, and in this article they address it some when they talk about the bank tellers.

So complicated.
 
Wow, this kid was a ticking time bomb. Its a shame that all the signs were there but nothing could be done about it.
 
Does anyone know why now most articles say 19 vicims? Last week the sheriff said there was one victim who drove himself to the hospital, making it 20 total. I believe that is the person in the arrested victim article above.

I must have missed where it went from 20 to 19. Help!
