Second 911 call—Gail given numbers for safe place to stay. Resolved when “Matthew Palmgren agreed to stay at 40 Ridgerock Drive and let Gail Palmgren take their two children…to their lake house in Wetumpka, AL for the night,” according to police report

Gail Palmgren's sister, Diane Nichols, calls Signal Mountain Police
from her home in New York. Nichols reports not hearing from Gail,
and requests a welfare check and files a missing persons report.
An officer drove to the Palmgren's home. No one was home and
there were no signs of foul play. Later that day, Matthew Palmgren
calls 911 to report his wife missing. He tells police his wife dropped
their children off at home alone and had not been seen since.

New to site, have scanned through most postings and wanted to post a few thoughts...


1. People seem to be baffled that if she did plan to take off, why did she not take the kids? My response is that both children had approx one month of school left and it would be impossible to get situated in a new place/school under circumstances like that, and as a mom, I would not forfeit a year of school for my children with one month left, if I felt they were safe. If it were a planned escape, she may have had an ongoing plan to hook back up with the children later. (not saying whether or not things have gone according to plan)

2. It appears to me that her behavior regarding the jeep prior to her disappearance was very unusual - she went so far as to hide the key and call 911 in actions related to the jeep - perhaps a ruse to prevent her MP from taking it? Was the jeep already packed with a few things? Why did they leave so early from the lake house that they were back on the mtn by approx noon? (there is an hour difference in time zones I think, too)

3. The lack of action by investigators...the situation where they are not taking what most would think are the obvious steps...they must know things they are not sharing, for a reason. They may have felt pressure to go through the motions, thus the press conference etc.

Just noting that people are capable of all kinds of plans, plots, ruses - there is no telling what any individual is capable of and that goes for MP and GP. The most worrisome scenario to me is that she did have an accident on her way out.

Anyway, remaining neutral until more is available.

If I recall correctly, SB saw her driving the Jeep on their street and waved, but Gail didn't acknowledge her.

I had wondered about that too, but JBean said it was 100% known that it was GP.

The only reason why I feel a little less neutral is the husbands actions. He is already stating that she took off. He is already filing motions in court. He has the attitude of one that will likely bash the mother of his children very publicly very easily. This just reminds me too much of other not-so-innocent men that have done the exact same thing. {arrrchummmm} josh powell ...

That is what I thought, that Gail did not feel free to talk because the children would hear her. I know the neighbor said she saw Gail leave, but she thought it was strange Gail did not acknowledge her, as I remember. I'm wondering if it's possible she assumed it was Gail, since that is who she would have expected it to be, but maybe it wasn't.

I can't find anything right now about when she called Diane, just the comment made on a local Fox affiliate that said this is an even bigger mystery because of the comments Gail made to Diane in that phone call. (They of course don't tell us what those comments are.)

Where could we go to get answers to questions like this? I'm new to this, which is why I am asking. The police wouldn't talk to private citizens like us, I assume.

I can understand specific times being protected

Hopefully, both SMPD and HCSO are well aware of what Gail told her sister even IF the general publlic doesn't know..JMHO

It is 100% known it was Gail leaving the home after dropping the kids off. I may have fed into the rumor that Gail called her sister afterwards, but you can take JBean's word, at least, to the bank.

Just pure speculation on my part, but wondering IF Gail may have come home from the lake house and found evidence of the girlfriend being in her home while she was in Alabama and decided to confront her..In reference to myself, I think IF I found evidence of my husband having another woman in my home, I just may be inclined to confront her in person... Not saying this happened I'm just thinking out loud...JMHO

LOL....what I remember was the sister saying she talked to GP before she disappeared. That could be after or before she dropped the kids off or was at the house. It's driving us nuts!!!! We need some clarification of the sis's call.

I think that's an interesting theory. I wonder if anybody on here who knows Gail could say if that is the type thing she might do.

And if anybody knows who the "other woman" is (not suggesting the name should be posted anywhere), it would be interesting for investigators to check out that neighborhood, to see if anybody in that area saw the jeep.

I specifically remember the detail that Gail could not speak freely because the children were with her. I also remember the article saying Gail was driving when that call occurred.
