Odd: Father said its not like her not keep in touch with family however she's been missing for 10 weeks? I'd say that's not keeping in touch. IMO

happy birthday Kelly

Quote:
As the Beatles’ song “Let It Be” played in the background, tears began to roll down Shelly Rush’s face for her sister, Kelly J. Armstrong.

Their mother, Teresa Edwards, sat next to Rush, leaned her head against her daughter’s and began to cry.

The two women and several other family members were among nearly 70 people at a candlelight vigil Tuesday night for Armstrong, the 28-year-old Kokomo woman who family members say they haven’t seen or heard from since August.

Armstrong’s cousin, David Phillips II, led the group in prayer and the lighting of candles at Vineyard Community Church in Logansport.

The vigil was held in honor of Armstrong’s 28th birthday.

There’s no sign of Kelly Armstrong, 28, and the theories surrounding her disappearance in July are disturbing for family members.

“I honestly think something bad happened to her,” said Armstrong’s older sister Shelly Rush. “There’s no way she would have left her baby, her pictures, her clothing, her shoes, and everything behind.”

Armstrong was living in Kokomo with her boyfriend, Travis Funke and their 18-month-old son at the time of her disappearance. Rush says police haven’t named Funke as a suspect in the investigation, but his uncooperative behavior raises a red flag.

“He's stated to the police that he knows where she is and he’s not telling,” she said.

Guardian Angels, entertainment group help in search for missing Kokomo woman

The Guardian Angels are stepping in to help Kelly Armstrong's family and friends find the Kokomo mother of four. Armstrong, 28, has been missing since August. The group will be handing out missing person flyers and asking questions of the public and businesses who may have seen her.

[snip]

The Guardian Angels also recruited Daddy Real Entertainment. The local entertainment company is producing a video for YouTube at no charge to the family.

From the article:

Quote:
Police have arrested Armstrong's boyfriend on an unrelated charge, but have not connected him to the disappearance. Another search will take place Sunday.
I know that they arrested him when she first went missing, and even though they say there are no suspects, I am sure he did it. I wonder if he is still in jail.

Where's Kelly Armstrong? After 5 Months Of Anguish, Sister Pleads For Help
Where is Kelly Armstrong?

That's what her sister still asks, more than five months after Armstrong disappeared from her Kokomo, Ind., home.

Shelly Rush said she wants her 28-year-old sister found, no matter the circumstances.

"I just want to bring her home, one way or the other," Rush told The Huffington Post. "Wherever she is at, whatever condition she is in, I just want her home."

[snip]

"We're still actively looking for her. That's the only thing I can comment on at this time," said police Maj. Brian Seldon.

[snip]

"We have had several searches, but we are having a hard time getting anyone in the community to help us," Rush said. "We have also reached out to some professional search groups, like Texas EquuSearch, but they need the OK from police before they will search and Kokomo police told them they did not need their help."

Where is Kelly? Why is there so little action in her case? I can't imagine the anguish that her family must be feeling.

Kelly Armstrong's Family Outraged Over Manslaughter Charge: 'That's Not Justice'

Authorities in north-central Indiana have charged Travis Funke in the death of Kelly Armstrong, a mother of one who was reported missing in September. The latest development, however, is less than ideal, according to family members with whom The Huffington Post spoke.

"He was charged with voluntary manslaughter. They said her death occurred 'under a sudden heat.' He faces 45 years, with 10 suspended, but could be out in 17. No, that's not justice. That's not justice at all. We still don't even have my sister to bury her," said Armstrong's sister, Shelly Rush.

Judge sets trial date in Kelly Armstrong case

A man, whom police say admitted to killing his girlfriend, pleaded not guilty to voluntary manslaughter in Howard Superior Court 2 on Tuesday.

[snip]

Howard Superior Court 2 Judge Brant Parry set a trial date of July 3 and pretrial hearing for June 12. Funke remains jailed without bond.

Poor Kelly!! I feel so bad for her family. They may never be able to bury her if she is in the landfill because as I understand it, LE is not willing to search the landfill.

Kelly Armstrong's Family: Plea Bargain Uses Victim's Son As 'A Pawn'

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...ef=mostpopular

Quote:
The relatives of Kelly Armstrong said they are being revictimized after prosecutors offered Armstrong's boyfriend, who police said confessed to her murder, a plea deal that recommends the couple's 2-year-old live with the man's relatives.

"They are using my sister's little boy as a pawn. He took her from us and now he is trying to take my nephew too," Armstrong's sister, Shelly Rush, told The Huffington Post.

Quote:
A son he and Armstrong had together, who now has cancer, is also listed as an incentive.

"Although the defendant acknowledges and understands that the state of Indiana has no authority to bind the Department of Family and Children or the court presiding over the issue of the placement of defendant's minor child, the state of Indiana would agree to cooperate with DFC in an attempt to have the defendant's child placed with the defendant's family," the plea agreement recommends.

Plea deal withdrawn for man who admitted to killing Kokomo woman

-------------------------------
http://www.fox59.com/news/wxin-plea-...4115582.column

Quote:
Fox59 has learned that the plea deal has been withdrawn in the case of a man who admitted to killing a Kokomo woman.

In June, Travis Funke agreed to a plea deal just a week before he was set to go to trial. The agreement included a 35-year sentence for voluntary manslaughter in the death of his girlfriend, Kelly Armstrong. Her remains have never been found.

Armstrong’s family protested Tuesday outside the Howard County Courthouse, where Funke was waiting for a judge to approve his plea deal. Instead, that deal was withdrawn
Quote:
The case will go to trial. The trial date is August 21, but it's expected to be continued to January.

“Thirty five years for killing my daughter is not enough,” Armstrong’s father said. “Maybe we're rolling the dice by going to jury trial, but when this goes to jury trial we're gonna win."

I don't know...this way he does not have to say where she is. I would want that, and take the 35 years, personally.
