Sacramento County Sheriff's Dept.
http://www.sacsheriff.com/media/0626_mp_lomax.cfm
Press Release
Dated: July 4, 2012
As of today, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office has assumed primary investigative responsibility for the missing person case involving 19 year-old Linnea Lomax, who was reported missing in Sacramento County on June 26th. This agreement was made by their office and our Missing Persons Bureau, based primarily on the fact that Miss Lomax is a Placerville / El Dorado County resident. If we were working a confirmed abduction/kidnapping, the circumstances would be different and we would keep the case as an active criminal investigation. However, the circumstances of this case suggest that Linnea Lomax is, by all accounts, voluntary “missing” and choosing to stay away from friends and family.
We will assist the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office on an as-needed basis, and we will continue to follow-up on any reported sightings of Miss Lomax with a response by patrol personnel. At this point, however, it is our department’s position that we have done the requisite due diligence on this case based on the circumstances present, and have forwarded all of the information that we have to EDSO.

Information indicates that she left the building where her appointment was scheduled, to go to lunch. She never returned to finish her appointment.

Linnea Lomax is a student at the University of California in Davis and is a resident of El Dorado County. Linnea is 19 years old, 5'2" 100 pounds and has blond hair.

El Dorado County Sheriff's Office

Press Release
Dated July 7, 2012
The initial report was that Miss Lomax was “voluntarily” missing and is choosing to stay away from family and friends. The investigation showed no signs of kidnapping or abduction.

Detectives, family and friends are asking for the public’s help in finding Linnea. Linnea has not been seen or heard from in more than 1 week. The family is concerned if she left voluntarily without any means of survival, she is now in grave danger due to not taking her prescribed medications.

UC Davis student missing since June
Forty days, four hours, 32 minutes ago. According to the website helpfindlinnea.org, this is the length of time since Linnea Lomax walked out of an outpatient clinic in Sacramento without her wallet, cellphone or medication.

Lomax, a UC Davis first-year from Placerville, has been missing since June 26. A human development major with a GPA exceeding 3.8, she is described as a cheerful, caring girl with “curly blond hair crown[ing] her slender 5’2” frame” and twinkling blue eyes.

Her disappearance follows in the wake of a series of episodes related to her mental state in dealing with the rigors that come with life after high school. This culminated with a nervous breakdown during Spring Quarter finals.

Subsequently, Lomax was encouraged to seek treatment for the illnesses that had begun to plague her.

Searchers find notebook of missing UC Davis student
A notebook and folder belonging to 19-year-old missing UC Davis student Linnea Lomax was found in the brush near a bike trail along the American River Sunday afternoon.

Searchers from the KlaasKids Foundation and Bay Area Missing were in Sacramento for the weekend to help find the teenager.

"It did at least confirm that our best guesses were right and that she would have accessed that trail system, said Brass Dennis of the KlassKids Foundation. "That does dove tail into a lot of the sightings that we've had. So, now it's just a matter of going out and eliminating a lot of that area."

Update: Officials investigating whether body is that of missing UC Davis woman
A volunteer search party looking for a missing UC Davis student found a body along the American River and notified police this morning, sparking an investigation into whether the body is that of Linnea Lomax.
Sacramento police told The Bee that the group of searchers found the body at 10:18 a.m. along the river in the vicinity of Glenn Hall Park in the River Park neighborhood near Sacramento State -- not far from where Lomax walked away from a mental health appointment more than two months ago.
Police spokesman Doug Morse said at a press conference shortly after noon that the body is that of a woman and shows signs of decomposition. Authorities say the age of the woman is not yet clear and that they do not know how the woman died.
