Bump.
It just boggles my mind how someone (voluntarily or involuntarily) can just disappear with no trace. Someone must know something!

Well, I am not saying Maria Claudia DIDN"t voluntarily disappear, but why would she? Let me play devil's advocate for some fun here.
If you are a broke college student or someone that has no (or little assets) when you disappear you essentially are in the same financial place in life. If you are someone more established: someone who has money in the bank, a nice car and house, etc., I find it hard to believe you would leave your comfortable life behind to live what would be a hardscrabble life.
Of course, she could have had a little money squirreled away, but I would imagine anything more than a few thousand dollars and her husband would have noticed.
So I think the only way that you would give up everything would be if you felt your life was in danger or you had some sort of life changing-join-a-cult type of breakthrough.

But we watched her walk away, and she is still gone, missing. I don't pretend to know why, or what happened in her life, but she is gone. It could be she had some kind of breakdown or was sick, we just don't know, but we can see how people just leave. I hope she is well, and will come back one day to her family or call them and let them know she is alive.

Very sad case. It must be tough for her husband and her family to move forward without know what has happened.

Decomposing female body found by hikers
Police are investigating human remains found by two hikers at Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek on Thursday afternoon.
The “badly decomposed” female body was clothed but had no identification.
Investigators are exploring the possibility that the body might belong to Maria Claudia Murphy, the Coral Springs woman who disappeared in March, according to WSVN-Channel 7 News.

Wow. How did they not scour that whole park a long time ago? I find a few things that are interesting about this. First, I mentioned before that she had a butterfly or firefly tattoo. And Butterfly World is right there in that park. Secondly, I seem to recall that her husband worked near that park.
If she was disoriented, perhaps that park was one place that she could recall. Or maybe she took her own life and decided to take a little stroll to her favorite park first.

I was under the impression that they had searched the park. But I noticed there is a big area that is all trees to the south of Sample. Perhaps she was there.

My dearest brother recently passed away from ALS (AKA - Lou Gehrig's disease). It is an terrible disease without a cure, without a known cause, and is only diagnosed by elimination of other diseases. He is my hero!! He accepted the fact that he had to endure this disease, and he stayed positive even though I cried many times since he was diagnosed in early 2011. I know that he rests in peace knowing that he lived a good life here; and he will be blessed up there! May I always honor his memory in being a good person too!! I love you big Bro (also known as the gentle giant). 10/25/2012

How sad. I wonder if her bag was found. I hope they can determine a COD. Why would she be there unless someone put her there.

I have been following this case from the beginning and I always had a feeling it would end this way. She didn't seem to be one to run away from her family and extended family. At least now they can have a small measure of peace.
Rest In Peace, Maria "Claudia" Murphy
I hope that you passed peacefully, enjoying the park.

I wonder when they will release the COD to the public?
I read some articles and it said she was found in a very wooded area that didn't have nearby trails. I wonder if it was common for her to "off road" when walking.

Husband: Discovery of Coral Springs woman's remains brings 'closure'
http://www.wptv.com/dpp/news/state/h...brings-closure

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Before the tragedy that befell Maria Claudia Murphy, she prepared to move with her husband by boxing their belongings.
Those cardboard boxes remained stacked high in a garage Monday and slowly are being unpacked by her husband.

Forensic experts in Fort Myers have been commissioned to help determine the cause of death, Frank Murphy said. Determining how she died may take weeks or months, according to the Coconut Creek Police Department, which also is investigating.

Just bumping this up as I'm thinking about this woman and her grieving family. I hope investigators can provide some answers.

I checked for news of her every day and I'm glad she's been found. I thought it might be a suicide from the very start as she deposited money in the bank and then took a different bag with her when she left the car. She definitely seemed to have a purpose in mind.
It's sad when someone feels this is the only way out of a bad situation (if it does turn out to be suicide) and I feel bad for the family.
