She was last see in the Hot Springs Area on Oct. 5, between 6 and 7 a.m.

HOT SPRINGS - A friend of the Hot Springs woman who disappeared this month said she was planning to go to Rapid City the day she vanished to pick up a motor home she was planning to buy.

Like many small towns, Hot Springs is a place where most everybody knows each other. That's why so many people are concerned about the disappearance of one of their neighbors, 56-year-old Catherine Tornquist.

"All the people spoken to about Catherine say this is not in her character just to up and leave and disappear. It's highly irregular," Fall River County Sheriff Rich Mraz said.

Fall River County Sheriff Rich Mraz says that even though a search by some 60 volunteers Saturday morning failed to turn up any new information on the disappearance of a rural Hot Springs woman missing since early October, he still considers the effort very useful.
