6100 priests (minimum) are a 'handful?' Therein lies part of the problem. I've heard the terms several, few, handful, etc. used in an effort to minimize the monstrous size of this catastrophe. It's not small, it's huge. It's a huge number of priests and it's an even larger number of victims. The minimalization makes me incredibly angry. The church will never stand up and admit what they have done and the extent of what they've done and do the right thing. Never.

Out of nowhere our new guy Chaput got called to Rome to talk to the Pope. About his surprise upcoming visit. I figure couldn't he just ask him on the phone? Write a letter?
It has nothing to do with the trial or does it?
Meanwhile the jury keeps asking for definitions. Is this good? Bad? Meanwhile so many suffer.

Tempers flare in courtroom
Frustration mounts. The Judge looks stunned. The attorney for Reverend James Brennan erupted in court scolding the Judge saying he did his job, and the Prosecution did theirs and she did hers and it's time for the jury to do theirs.

Special Creepsake Edition
Defrocked pedophile Priest's photo included in keepsake Yearbook.
This has nothing to do with the trial, but IMO is relevant to just where in the good Lord's name some of these Priest's intentions are.
Holy Spirit School in the Packer Park section of South Philly is closing this year to the chagrin of it's parishoners of whom some have third generations attending the school. That's bad enough. What led insult to injury is the yearbook the kids brought home.
There smack on a page featuring children back from 1965 is a "mug" of the defrocked perververt Reverend David Sicoli. Sicoli was mentioned numerous times in the Grand Jury report and he was sooooooooooo bad that even the Church ousted his behind and defrocked him. He served Holy Spirit as a Pastor and no doubt abused several children there. Eleven seperate cases of child sexual abuse were deemed credilble by the Church.
One mom took it to the Rectory. She was outraged, and told by the now Pastor the Priest was not criminally charged and afterall he had been a Pastor there. That wasn't sitting with Maria Capetola who justifiably also told this guy that in fact Sicoli was one of the reasons the school was closing. As of this morning supposedly a letter was being sent home with the kids and yearbooks should be returned and they will be reprinted and those destroyed.
http://www.philly.com/philly/educati..._yearbook.html
Still? Still? Nobody in that school/church thought "Da*n this pervert is no longer a Priest and should not have his ugly a*s pedo face in there? What if a victim or a family of one of his victims looked in there?" Apparently not.
Thank you Maria Capetola for caring and having the sense to go tell these Holy Men".

Still no verdict after 11 days of deliberations. The jury will return tomorrow morning for a 12th day. There has been no word the panel is at a stalemate.

I thought I had heard wrong on the radio driving home, and they were hung on ONE count of the five, not the other way around!
Off to backtrack for info on jury makeup that might, maybe, somehow, help explain what appears to be happening here...

There's seven men and five women, y. Not sure how that would effect the outcome. How many are Catholic? Not sure of that. I know the defense for Brennan is super angry. However, a lil snip in our news said he's busy playing "Godfather Trivia" with Vernon Odom the news guy.
Where this will go I do not know????

Monsignor denied House Arrest while he awaits sentencing. Considered a flight risk. Where would he go? The Vatican some think.

His Attorney patted him gently on the back when the Judge denied his request. Ain't that just too bad? Maybe if he'd have helped those kids and cared for them and patted them on the back he wouldn't be where he's at right now.

Whoa!!!!!
Wasn't sure if I should start a seperate thread here, but the Bishop of West Virginia who is like Philly Archdiocese royalty and who was mentioned during the trial by one of the victims of Father Gana had in 2007 had a young man go to authorities saying he was groped by Bransfield.
Hmmmmmmm. The man said it happened in Lansdale High and Montgomery County is doing it's own investigation.

Monsignor Lynn you get three to six years in the slammer.
http://www.philly.com/philly/news/20...buse_case.html
Lynn once again said that he did the best he could, but it was not good enough and for that he was sorry.
Tell us that again in three years when your up for parole.

Priest recants guilty confession.
http://articles.philly.com/2013-01-1...william-j-lynn
Father Avery said he had only plead guilty because he didn't want to spend the rest of his life in jail.
Trial continues.
Way to go, Father.
