"George Zimmerman said that he does not regret getting out of his vehicle, he does not regret following Trayvon, in fact he does not regret anything he did that night," the statement read. "He wouldn't do anything different and he concluded it was God's plan.

"We must worship a different God because there is no way that my God would have wanted George Zimmerman to kill my teenage son," Tracy Martin, Martin's father, said in the statement.

George Zimmerman, in an interview Wednesday with Fox News' Sean Hannity, called the shooting death of unarmed teen Trayvon Martin a "tragic situation" and "the most difficult thing I'll ever go through in my life."

But Zimmerman, a volunteer neighborhood watch leader, also spoke in detail about what happened that fateful night in February, saying he had followed Martin because he looked suspicious running between houses in the rain.

Martin soon turned to confront Zimmerman and "asked me what my problem was" before the exchange escalated into violence, Zimmerman told Hannity in his first TV interview, conducted in an undisclosed location in Florida. The 28-year-old, with his attorney sitting by his side, said he reached into his pocket to find his phone to call 911 for a second time, and "I looked up and he punched me and broke my nose."

Zimmerman: Trayvon’s death was “God’s plan”

By Frances Robles
frobles@MiamiHerald.com

After saying he did not regret any of his actions the night he killed Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman backtracked and apologized to America Wednesday night in his first interview since the shooting that polarized the nation nearly five months ago.

In an apparent attempt at damage control just two days after a cousin’s sexual molestation charges went public, Zimmerman broke his silence in an exclusive interview with Fox News conservative talk show host Sean Hannity. His lawyer, Mark O’Mara, sat beside him as Zimmerman recounted the Sunday night that he encountered a hoodie-clad black teenager who walked too leisurely in the rain.

George Zimmerman called ABC newswoman Barbara Walters Thursday during her live TV show, hoping to grant an interview a day after their negotiations for a sit-down broke down.

Walters told viewers watching Thursday morning’s “The View” that she flew to Florida Wednesday in the hopes of scoring an interview with Zimmerman, who is charged with second degree murder in the killing of Miami Gardens teen Trayvon Martin. She said he showed up dressed in a t-shirt and made demands the network could not meet.

The New York Post reported, and the Miami Herald confirmed, that Zimmerman asked for a month’s stay in a hotel.

George Zimmerman: I didn’t know stand your ground law

http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/ent...round-law.html

In an exclusive interview with Sean Hannity, George Zimmerman said he didn’t know about stand your ground law before shooting Trayvon Martin.........

Mark O’Mara, Zimmerman’s attorney, said he thought the stand your ground law was applicable in the Martin shooting. “Now that we have a lot of evidence considering what is self-defense, I think it’s a proper presentation to go to a jury,” O’Mara said...........

O’Mara interrupted when Hannity asked about donations from the public. O’Mara cited Shellie Zimmerman, George’s wife who is charged with perjury about donations the couple received from the public.

O’Mara said a cousin’s allegations that George molested her would be “a non-issue” at trial.

"I think George Zimmerman needs to stop talking," said David Faulkner, a former FBI agent and Winter Park criminal defense attorney.

Special Prosecutor Angela Corey during the noon-hour filed formal notice that she intends to add the interview to the state's case.

Duval County State's Attorney filed a document listing the Fox interview as evidence

And After the Hannity Interview the private Zimmerman website is back up:
http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/07/1...ra-walter.html

The Duval County state attorney prosecuting the case filed a document Thursday listing the Fox interview as potential evidence in the case.

More footage is expected to air Friday.

Shortly after Wednesday night’s broadcast, Zimmerman’s defunct website “The Real George Zimmerman,” reappeared. The site says the attorney’s website had failed in three key missions: fund raising, disputing information and providing a voice for Zimmerman. The site includes a link the legal trust fund.

“Part of this effort will involve providing a clear picture of who George is, what his family is like, and where he comes from,” the site says.

ORLANDO, Fla. -

In his first interview, George Zimmerman apologized for what happened to Trayvon Martin and for the controversy it sparked.

George Zimmerman's attorney, Mark O'Mara, said he is prepared to deal with what comes from his client's interview.

"I'm sorry that this happened," he said in an interview with Fox News Channel. "I hate to think that because of this incident, my actions, it has polarized America."

Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Martin in Sanford in February. Zimmerman said it was self-defense.

Prosecutors filed a supplemental discovery notice with one item on Thursday -- the interview. They say they may use his comments at trial.

Zimmerman's attorney, Mark O'Mara, said he is prepared to deal with what comes from his client's interview, but said he's not surprised by the state's decision to use the interview at trial.

More twists as Zimmerman takes his case public

The George Zimmerman case took an unexpected turn Thursday when the murder suspect tried calling ABC to go on the air live and then posted videos of himself on the web.

Has George Zimmerman gone rogue?

He launched his own Internet site Wednesday night, saying his lawyer’s web page had failed in three key missions: disputing information, fund-raising and providing a voice for him.

Stand Your Ground law used often by those with previous arrests

A Tampa Bay Times analysis of ‘stand your ground’ cases found that it has been mostly people with records of violence who have benefited from the law.

Prosecutors release names of 6 'secret' witnesses in Zimmerman case1:12 p.m. EST, July 25, 2012

http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/...n-mary-cutcher

Prosecutors in the George Zimmerman second-degree murder case on Wednesday released the names of six "secret" witnesses, all of them neighbors who lived near where Trayvon Martin was fatally shot.

The newly disclosed list does not include new witnesses, just several whose identities earlier were kept secret by prosecutors, something both sides agreed would help protect their privacy.

But Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester Jr. ordered the release of the names of witnesses who had previously talked publicly to reporters. Those six were identified Wednesday...........

Zimmerman's wife, Shellie, is to be arraigned Tuesday at the Seminole County criminal courts building on a perjury charge. That means she'll enter a plea.

Her brother-in-law, Robert Zimmerman, said three weeks ago that she has an attorney, but he would not name that person, and as of noon-time Tuesday
[7/24], court records showed that no one has formally filed notice that he or she is serving as Shellie Zimmerman's lawyer.

SANFORD — The judge in the George Zimmerman case will hold a Stand Your Ground hearing Wednesday in the case of an Oviedo woman who says she shot her estranged husband while he was raping her.

Anita Smithey is charged with second-degree murder for shooting Robert Cline III.

Oviedo police found his body on her bedroom floor May 4, 2010. Smithey was screaming, crying, shaking and bleeding from a knife wound to the side, one that police say she admitted inflicting on herself after she killed the 41-year-old Cline.

Smithey, 43, and her estranged husband had been separated for three months, according to a police report, but he had come to her house that night for what had become a Monday ritual: sex on the night her children were visiting their father.

The case is more than 2 years old and has drawn little attention, but now that it involves the judge handling the Zimmerman case — Kenneth Lester Jr. — that will likely change.

ORLANDO -

George Zimmerman wants to change the terms of his probation that require him to live in Seminole County while he awaits trial.

His lawyer, Mark O'Mara, said one main concern is money. He said Seminole County is the most dangerous place for Zimmerman to live, and the cost of round-the-clock security is draining the defense fund.

"We're preparing to file a motion to modify George's bond to allow him to move out of Seminole County," said O'Mara.

Judge Kenneth Lester has dismissed the recusal request filed by George Zimmerman in his second-degree murder trial.

In his ruling, Lester denied the motion as legally insufficient.

Judge in George Zimmerman's Florida trial will not step down
By Barbara Liston, Reuters

ORLANDO, Florida — A Florida judge on Wednesday rejected a motion asking him to step down from the murder trial of George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch captain who killed unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin, ruling the defense request was "legally insufficient."

Zimmerman's lawyer Mark O'Mara, in a motion filed July 13 asking the judge to step down, accused Judge Kenneth Lester of bias, citing what he called "gratuitous" and "disparaging remarks" Lester made in a July 5 ruling raising Zimmerman's bond from $150,000 to $1 million.

The ruling followed a bond hearing held after prosecutors accused Zimmerman and his wife Shellie, who has been charged with perjury, of lying to the court about their finances...

While other people watch reality shows, a marketing specialist in Michigan who goes by the name “Bcclist” spends time in his yard, calculating Trayvon Martin’s last steps with a tape measure and smartphone stop watch.

He is joined on the Internet by Dave Turner, an Illinois man who had his sons yell in the dark from a distance of 30 feet to see whether he could tell which one cried for help.

Both men are often guided by the work of “Tchoupi,” an engineer with a Ph.D. in physics who has spent countless hours making maps, analyzing witness statements and fleeting headlight patterns in surveillance videos to compute George Zimmerman’s moves the night he killed Trayvon.

The three are among a growing group of people on the Internet so fascinated by the mystery of the killing that captivated the nation that they are out to crack the case themselves. They listen to jailhouse calls, pore over witness statements, study evidentiary documents and measure walking speeds.
