Amazing generosity of spirit!
http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Crime/20.../20030376.html
"In a statement, Lin's mother said she initially considered her son's killer to be a "devil."
But Rodriguez says Zhi Gui Du has since undergone a spiritual transformation through her terrible ordeal and was baptized as a Catholic in Montreal last week.
Du’s heart has also softened towards Magnotta, who had a troubled upbringing in Ontario.
"I shockingly discovered my other self, who has started to develop sympathy for this person," Du said.
"A troubled young person may bring negative impact to the society later on ... if we can show our care for them and offer them help when it's needed, I think we will be able to sustain a better society with love and harmony."
Lin's parents said they will establish a charity foundation in their son's name to help Canadian children in difficulty".

WOW. What an amazing woman, and family. If only there were more people like this in the world, no doubt our world would be filled with fewer Lukas. Canada should feel honored by her gesture.

Accused mutilation killer Luka Magnotta wants sex study kept private ...
MONTREAL — Luka Magnotta has filed a motion to keep confidential certain items seized during the investigation that led to his being charged with murder — notably, an interview conducted by two criminologists with a research subject known as "Jimmy."

Regarding the link above posted by sillybilly:
If this research is relevant to the case, I cannot see how it could possibly be kept out of the trial.

"Most of Magnotta's case file is sealed, including the search warrant executed at the law offices of Lex Canada in Toronto on June 22, three weeks after Magnotta was arrested at an Internet cafe in Berlin."
What would they want from a law office in Toronto to have to execute a search warrant?

I don't know, but I'm about to research the law offices and see what I'm able to find.

His lawyer, Luc Leclair, was contacted:
http://www2.canada.com/calgaryherald...tml?id=7006338
But in two separate motions presented in Superior Court on Friday, Magnotta and the professors state their intention to challenge the search warrant on the basis of "confidentiality privilege."
Reached in Toronto, Magnotta's lawyer, Luc Leclair, refused to comment on the motion, or on wether his client is in fact the "Jimmy" that was interviewed for research purposes.
The research was conducted by Adam McLeod, on behalf of Bruckert and Parent.

There is a lawyer named Lex Canada? That sounds like the worst fake name ever; Magnotta probably thought that Lex Canada sounded like a porn name...

No.....from what I can gather, Lex Canada is a group of lawyers in Toronto. Luc Leclair is one of their lawyers.

Correct, Leclair has his own practice.
So I'm still baffled what could be so important about some questionnaire that they felt the need to search warrant to get it (I know the confidentiality thing for the process of getting it... but to have to go the trouble? ) and how is it relevant to the case before the court?

Thanks for correcting me about Luc Leclair NOT being with Lex Canada! So now......question:
Since Luc Leclair is not with Lex Canada, why/how/or IS he involved with Lex Canada's saying a warrant is needed to get the info?
I'm confused (nothing new there......).

While it is NOT confirmed that Magnotta participated in the study referenced in many of the news articles which is titled "Challenges: Ottawa Area Sex Workers Speak Out" which was published December 2, 2010; here is a link to the study (note the study is a pdf file) just click on the first publication listed and the download will begin: http://www.powerottawa.ca/powerdocs.html

Since Leclair is LM's head attorney, from what I gather, he is fighting to prevent the information being disclosed, publicized and used in the case. Whereas the LEX Canada office and the original authors are fighting it on confidentiality grounds in general.

IMO, the names were changed and from reading the quotes, sounds to me like he is Michael.

Very interesting, I don't recall that article being posted before.
Its reopens the debate about adults who are living on their own, without supervision, and self administering their medication. How many other "ticking time bombs" do each of us walk by each day in the streets, in the elevator, at our workplaces who could snap at any moment? Troubling thoughts.

What I find interesting is the glimpse we get of his mother from this judge. Also this very well may be the reason no psych evaluation was requested as his seems to have been in the past under doctor care and was suppose to be taking medication.
I am starting to think he was extremely delusional and believed in his mind he was in love with Karla or he admired her. I just recently read that the movie American Psycho was apparently Karla's favorite movie.

It's an odd thought but given Magnotta's impressive management abilities (of his online personalities), creativity (in his online efforts), salesmanship skills (moderately successful in convincing both online and real world audiences of his fabricated life of fame, wealth and education) and his attention to detail; I wonder if he had successfully nurtured and managed his known issues throughout his life that he could have achieved extraordinary success in business, politics and/or life.

I think Michael is too smart and sane to be Luka. You can't cut and paste during an interview.
I think "Paul" sounds more like him
"We can also recall Paul’s (escort) struggle to overcome the self-alienation he experienced as a result of his
internalized whorephobia having been taught that “[whores] are demonic, ****ed -up things, the most filthy
thing” which he says “kept me in a state of depression. Just now am I starting to think that what I do is not
so bad, that I am just providing a service.”
He also talks about being judged is always on his mind and he keeps on having to be on top of the seperate parts in his life....
