JJ wrote on her FB that Nancy told Craig (JJ's husband Craig, I assume) that she needed to get away. I don't know when she said is reported to have said that. I don't think the circumstances under which Nancy disappeared are those of someone who needed to get away. Typically, when people say that they mean a few days and they certainly take clothing, purse, phone, etc. with them and let someone know they are leaving.

I looked at the "Help Find Nancy Jenkins" FB page several days ago and it was mentioned that LE has done a couple of searches but didn't find anything.

Where are you, Nancy?

Nancy was entered into NamUs today! I don't want to say that's good news because it isn't good that she's still missing, but I'm happy that someone did something to help find her.

I think about Nancy everyday, usually more than once. Nearly every night, I search for any news about her. I'm beginning to wonder if LE has forgotten Nancy.

I think of Nancy too....I have always wondered what happened to her. I tried to make contact with her daughter but didn't hear back. I just wish we had news of some kind. It seems like this case hasn't had much publicity or pressure.

Refresh my memory. Was there ever a significant search for Nancy?

IMO, nothing I would call significant. It was reported that on the night of May 31 (the night of the day she went missing) investigators from the sheriff's dept. used a police dog to search around Nancy's home and then on Friday, June 1, 25 officers searched the area but didn’t find any trace of her. That's all the searches that I know of -- she's been gone for more than two months now. What happened to Nancy?

I wonder if her computer was ever examined...or her bf's co-workers were interviewed to make sure he was actually at work? It seems like if the family doesn't push pretty hard, nothing goes anywhere in some of these investigations.

I wonder if the family has checked into coordinating a search. I also wonder if there is undisclosed information that might dissuade someone from conducting a search. I believe search groups like KlaasKids sometimes receive inside information that helps them determine whether a search is warranted.

It was suggested to the family, HeinekenMan, but I don't get the impression that they made any contact.

Hi Guys, I've spent an hour or so reading all the posts and now I'm caught up... whew!!!
I have to say I was surprised to see this lady listed as missing and I'd not heard a word about it in the last two months. I keep up with who is missing and who is found in North Carolina, but I've not heard a word about this case. That's dispictable!

Angry

I don't have a very good feeling about this at all. Someone there needs to call the LE and say... Hey look at this again, NOW! Perhaps they have interviewed everyone she knew, but I think they need to go back and do it again.
People do not voluntarily "get away" without taking their purse, ID, money, phone and some clothes... not even in an emergency.
And then there's her truck, sitting in the driveway. Surely she didn't walk away from there without her stuff.

So what does that leave?
  • She wandered out, got hurt, fell in the pond. OR
Someone took her away against her will.
If you ask me it's as simple as that!

If my mom was missing, unless she told me she needed to get away before she left I wouldn't believe it, no matter who said it. Makes me wonder if something we don' t know is the reason for the seeming disinterest in her disappearance. Has she done a disppearing act before, but just not for so long maybe? I'm hesitant to push the matter without go ahead from family. Don't want to compromise any investigation.
JMHOO

Forgot to say earlier, I think a planned getaway includes purse, id etc... If Nancy was really at home alone that day I don't think she would have left without them...unless she wanted tptb to assume foul play.

To my knowledge, her daughter has never mentioned Nancy doing a disappearing act in the past.

If Nancy was going to go to the trouble to wash the sheets before she left on this "getaway," I feel sure that she would not have left the door unlocked and the music turned up.

I'm not buying Nancy needing to "get away." I think if she was going to get away for awhile, she would have told her daughter and would not have planned to keep her granddaughter the day she disappeared. And just FYI, in case anyone tries to say sometime that I have left suddenly and have not contacted anyone for two and a half months, I'm not going anywhere without telling someone. Neither am I going anywhere without my toothbrush and my purse at the very least! I'm positive that during a two and half month period of time I would want to change clothes, sleep in a bed, talk to someone I know, buy myself something to eat and bathe, etc.

Nope. I am not buying it.

Nancy had been living with her daughter for a period of time. I believe Nancy's boyfriend/roommate was fairly new and she had only moved in with him recently. Nancy and her husband, Chuck, owned a house. Nancy wasn't living there, she must have either sold it or be renting it. I wonder who would be taking care of Nancy's financial matters? Does the court have to appoint someone in a situation such as this one? I have no idea.

I have to wonder also what is going on here. I think based on what has been said about her closeness to her daughter and granddaughter, loss of her husband, recent love interest... that the chances of her just walking away like that are pretty slim.

Everyone has skeletons in their closet of one kind or another, I just hope the family is not steering away from LE and advocate help for fear of what may come out.

This I know: It takes a strong spirit to live through the first 5 years of suddenly losing a spouse. I've called it walking through HELL.
I would never fault anyone for whatever they did to to get through such a painful time. You look for whatever you can to fill that void in your heart and your life.

There are plenty of resources out here for the family to call on if they want help in finding her. Probably the best one is right here in NC. Monica Caison with the Cue Center. They do some great work.

A referral to the Cue Center was left on the "Help Find Nancy Jenkins" FB page back in June. I just looked again and nothing was ever posted in response.

What can WE do to bring this case more urgency? I don't know, but im willing to help! I don't want it to sit around for years and years until finally one day "some hiker/camper/trash collector stumble on some remains"

Let's figure out collectively what we can do!
