I wonder who reported Gena missing. I don't seem to see it in the msm articles and don't have sound to listen to video. I'm going to guess perhaps her employer?

Hoping LE pulls her DMV photo too.... would be good to have a photo not partially cut off.

Police suspect foul play.
Last seen at her home on Saturday (10-13)
"Police will be conducting a search tomorrow morning, at 9:15, at River Oaks Ford, and ask that the public join their efforts if they can. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact either Calumet City Police or the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force." (tomorrow is Sat 10-20-2012) This article also shows the "whole photo" of the one that is cut off earlier in the thread.

You beat me to it too. Just saw this on the news. Family members said in news interview that she is in abusive relationship. So sad!

WGN news said she didn't show up for work and her employees called for a welfare check. Police found her keys inside her home. Doesn't look good :(.

Police say they now have a person of interest in the case of a Calumet City woman who has been missing for a week.

A search scheduled for today has been called off after developments in the investigation last night. Police would not provide details.

CBS 2’s Brad Edwards reports sources said a sheriff’s bloodhound was requested in the case Wednesday night, after blood was found in Chiodo’s home.

Police and friends had been scheduled to meet at separate locations to conduct searches today, but police called off the searches because they have changed the focus of their investigation. Police said they have a "person of interest" in mind, but would not confirm whether the person was being questioned.

"Factors happened in this investigation that have changed the direction of our investigation" Calumet City Police Chief Edward Gilmore told those at one location where volunteers were gathered. Gilmore was scheduled to hold an availability on the case at 1 p.m. at the Calumet City Police headquarters.

BBM. Praying for Gena and all who love her. Press conference at 1 at Calumet City PD. I will try to find it to watch it and post what they say.

Couldn't find it live online or on tv. GRRR. Why have a press conference if we can't see it! I am looking for any coverage of what was said, but so far haven't found anything. Maybe it was postponed?

is this a new person (re: I thought the boyfriend had already been questioned)

Police Chief Edward L. Gilmore said the investigation into the disappearance of Gena Chiodo, 42, who worked at a Munster hair salon, took a new direction Friday night when they learned of an individual they wish to question.

Gilmore would not say who the person might be, or whether they have been able to talk with that person as of Saturday afternoon.

Early in the day Saturday, Gilmore said, “We still hope we will find (Chiodo) alive,” although he added later that the presumption was largely because a body has not been found. “The longer she is missing, the less likely it is we will find her” alive.

Search called off for Calumet City woman

The request came Saturday morning just before authorities and volunteers were scheduled to gather to search at separate locations focusing on a forest preserve a few blocks from Chiodo's Calumet City home.

Calumet City Police Chief Edward Gilmore told the concerned who gathered for an afternoon update that "a person of interest" provided them with new information about the disappearance that changed the focus of their investigation.

Donal E. Clark was charged with first-degree murder and concealment of a homicide.

Police initially responded Wednesday to reports that Chiodo was missing and had to force entry into her home, where they found Clark, 42, her live-in boyfriend.

“We found significant evidence in the house that there may have been foul play in the house,”

Clark came to the police station to file a report. He became a suspect and was taken into custody Wednesday, Gilmore said.

BBM. This article also shows a photo of murderer. So he was home on Wed and the police STILL had to force entry? And he was just sitting around the house when there was blood and other evidence of "foul play"? No wonder the police latched onto him right from the beginning! What a creep! Just sitting around in the crime scene!
Also, this article says he was arrested Wednesday. Wonder if the delay in reporting this was due to trying to find Gena? Gathering additional information? I bet the family knew about the arrest and that's why they seemed so defeated/accepting of the outcome on the news last night. Horrible!

^i^ Rest in peace Gena. I'm sorry it ended this way. It sounds like you had a lot to give to this world and we all lose because you can no longer share it with us. To all of Gena's family and friends - I'm sorry you lost Gena, esp in this horrible way. Much love and peace to you all. She will live forever in your memories and hearts.
