Is there anyone local who might be able to provide the exact latitude and longitude of where the truck was found?
Thanks in advance.....

Wow. I didn't see cause of death mentioned. Or I may have just missed it. Do you know how/why he died June?? Thanks.

I don't know how he died, and many times they don't mention it in the obits.

He had been in a nursing home for a few months (even before his son went missing) but I am not exactly sure what for.

It seems the elder Jamison's family didn't care much for the missing wife/daughter-in-law, judging from her omission in the obituary. There has been no local activity in this case for several weeks.

What a bizarre story story. Actually in the obit it doesn't mention the spouses of any of his 5 sisters or 2 brother. Probably just the way it was written.

Hi there,
I finally caught up reading all of the first thread ... great sleuthing!

I did notice an interesting comment on Topix (I know, I know) from one of the links listed earlier http://www.topix.com/forum/city/eufaula-ok/TJJINE5FVDHE8JPOI/p6#c131
Buddy from Tulsa in post #131 says: Think maybe they LE & OSBI need to take a tour of Castaway Cove area and start digging around over there and see what is going on. Sounds like a good place to start! Read about some of the "going ons" around there and you will see why. I wouldn't want to step foot around there if you know what I mean! Check it out!
And #134 "Okla Mom" replied
once had a package to deliver there it was creepy,Could not wait to get out of there,Barbed wire all around this place. With the keep out sign you know,Scary.

And, as an aside if you're following the Gary Arrington story from the same area (went missing Nov 14) ... I'm sorry to say he was found in his wrecked truck, dead, from an apparent auto accident. At least his loved ones will know what happened to Gary. http://www.kjrh.com/mostpopular/story/Body-of-missing-man-found/SVNobknkN0G1FuD2jAbl0Q.cspx

Respectfully snipped

I wonder what that "scary package" was.. Topix has a lot of caca de toro on it, however i don't think it would hurt for LE to search different areas mentioned at the least to rule them out.
It's good to see the Jamison family has a second thread. A family doesn't just go missing into thin air. Does anyone know who they were dealing with to look/buy the land they were looking at? Was it one property or a couple they were going to cover that day?
The locals there knew why they were there yet the truck wasn't reported for over.. 2 weeks?? (please correct me if the length of time was off i can't remember exactly).
I wonder if the local that finally reported the truck was one of the same that also talked to the family. Not that word doesn't go around quickly in such a small area.
If it is possible, and this has been mentioned before, that the husband had a lot more money on him than that was found in the car; and locals knew why they were there, maybe someone took the majority of cash and left the bit that was there (or cash was hidden in 2 seperate locations and they didn't find the cash that was left).

If word got around by locals why the family was there, perhaps the wrong person heard and decided to take advantage of them...

Well finally they at least get some publicity even if no answers have been obtained.

The sheriff of Latimer (sp?) County wouldn't return the phone call made by the news station. Surely, he could have said something, even if it was to say no progress had been made in the case.

Even the locals are uncomfortable with the sheriff department's lack of info (and not using the local news as a perfect source to get the word out).

With all the talk we've been having about the area where they went missing and the numerous odd famillies in the area, I especially found these two comments at the end of the link interesting:
(this person is from Oklahoma City) Red oak is a no where place, lots of crazys in those hills around there, Hope they find them
(and a person from Newalla, OK said) Seriously i was going to say something snarky about you being new to Little Dixie. All my life i've heard stories about folks disappearing around that area, never to be seen again and then forgotten. I pray they don't forget about this family and what could be happening in these mountains. There is a reason this area was an outlaw haven. And that's all i'll say.

And, one comment really caught my eye, because, as far as I know, we haven't touched on this possibility at all
Could they possibly be in the witness protection program?
More food for thought!

Missing Eufaula family
Marika Lorraine Reporting KFOR
December 23, 2009

EUFAULA, OK -- The holidays are a time for loved ones to be together, but Niki Shenold worries her best friend's family has been forgotten. 44-year-old Bobby Jamison, his 40-year-old wife, Sherilyn, and their 6-year-old daughter, Madyson have been missing since October 7th.

The family's truck was found near the town of Red Oak in Latimer County.

Investigators found a small dog, cell phones, a global positioning system, maps, shoes, jackets, and cash inside the truck.

More than 300 volunteers searched the heavily-wooded area nearby for weeks with no results.

Shenold is Sherilyn's best friend. The two met in 1998 in the metro, bonded over books, and the friendship took off.

Shenold says, "Our daughters were born exactly one month apart and they were best friends as well."

The Jamison's had a lake house in Eufaula and loved it so much they moved there full time.

Shenold says, "They were good people. People are speculating about drug deals and this or that, but they just were people trying to live. I don't know what to think, I mean it's as if they stepped out of the truck and vanished."

After weeks of unsuccessful searches, Shenold says she's convinced the family is gone for good.

She says she wants to grieve, but can't because she does not know where Sherilyn, Bobby, and young Madyson are located

Bumping for Bobby, Sherrilynn, and Madyson

11414130_BG1.jpg

This family couldn't have just disappeared into thin air, there has to be someone out there who knows what happened to them.
The Jamisons need more media attention.
Hopefully with this new year will come a resolution for them..

I'm reading the first thread to catch up, and at the point I am reading the amount of money left in the truck had not been verified, although a comment on Topix indicated it was $41,000.

The speculation was that they were purchasing land from someone, got out of the truck and something happened.

Is it normal for people to pay cash for land? We recently sold some family owned land and both times, the person used a cashier's check. Would a cash-only sale not raise red flags for the buyer?

And if they were lured there for the money, why was it not taken?

I mean, I could see someone setting them up and posing as the owner of the property only to take their money and they'd have nothing to show for it (like people selling houses they don't own).

ETA:
I see this thought (you don't just pay cash for land; there is the issue of the title) occurred to many of you. Why didn't it occur to the Jamisons?

TRUCK FOUND/911 CALLED
Hunters on four wheelers found the truck near Panola Mountain. Beauchamp said a resident in the community of Red Oak called 911 Saturday to report that the abandoned truck was found. "(They) knew that the vehicle had been there for a while because they had spoken with that family on the 8th and the morning of the 9th," Beauchamp said. Based on that, the truck may have been abandoned for up to eight days. http://www.4029tv.com/news/21387742/detail.html

At first, Beauchamp said, it appeared the family had become lost because they were not at the location marked on the map, but investigators recently learned the site where the truck was parked was a second site where the family was looking for land. http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90523&page=6

FAMILY
Charla Heffley. Bob Jamison's cousin. http://www.newson6.com/global/story.asp?s=11377285

Connie Kokotan. Sherrilyn Jamison's mother. Says FBI has closed the case and it is now considered a cold case (as of December 28). It appears that they walked a few feet from the truck and something happened to them. http://www.koco.com/news/21397440/detail.html#COMMENTTOP (comment in story at http://www.koco.com/news/21397440/detail.html) Kokotan also says investigators are looking for a man who lived with the family last summer in their Eufaula home. http://www.newson6.com/global/story.asp?s=11377285

Doug Duncan. Sherilynn Jamison’s father; he lives in Oklahoma City. As mentioned here.

Bobby Dean Jamison. Father of Bobby Dale Jamison. Had a protective order against him (filed by son) in May, but it had been dismissed and appears unrelated to the disappearance of the younger Jamison and his family. http://newsok.com/authorities-seek-clues-in-search-for-eufaula-family/article/3410976#ixzz0bc4UHgNx Living in nursing home since August; died December 10, 2009. http://agentfuneralhome.com/z_Jamison_BD.html

Scarlet Jean Jamison. Mother of Bobby Dale Jamison. In May, Bobby Dale Jamison filed a civil suit against his parents for more than $10,000 for the loss of money to which he said he was entitled when his father sold the family gas station. In the suit, the missing Jamison alleges his father enticed him to work for free at the Oklahoma City gas station, but with the understanding that one day, the son would have a half-interest in the station when he was older. http://newsok.com/mud-slows-hunt-for-missing-three-in-southeast-oklahoma/article/3411584

LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES
FBI and OSBI called in to assist with investigation. http://www.ktul.com/news/stories/1009/670854.html The FBI, OSBI, and a number of state agencies are working on this case, but authorities are worried about the family of three who disappeared in such a tough part of the countryside. Panola Mountain sits in rural Latimer County, covered with trees and surrounded by grasslands. http://www.newson6.com/global/story.asp?s=11356491 and http://www.koco.com/news/21397440/detail.html

Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Also involved with the case. http://www.4029tv.com/news/21387742/detail.html

LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL
If you have any information about the whereabouts of the Jameson family, please contact the Latimer County Sheriff's Office at 918-465-2161.

Chuck Wells, Sgt. Stated that the family’s white pickup was found on Panola Mountain, near Red Oak. Law enforcement officers found the pickup Saturday parked on a dirt road in an isolated area near a well-site where a natural gas drilling rig had once been, according to Wells. http://www.mcalesternews.com/homepage/local_story_295111743.html?keyword=leadpicturestory

David Cogburn. Red Oak police officer who took part in Saturday’s search and who says he will continue searching until the family is found. http://www.4029tv.com/news/21387742/detail.html

Israel Beauchamp. Sheriff of Latimer County.

Joe Hogan. McIntosh County Sheriff . Said his deputies had checked the family’s home near Eufaula and found nothing amiss. The Jameson home had a home security system with some video on it, Hogan said. Law enforcement officers have also looked at the security video, but found nothing to help them solve the mystery of where the family is, according to Hogan. http://www.mcalesternews.com/homepage/local_story_295111743.html?keyword=leadpicturestory

Matt Bohn. Latimer County Undersheriff.

SEARCHES
Authorities have called in both the FBI (web) and the OSBI to help with the search for the Jameson's. They will join 6 cadaver dog teams, planes, helicopters and just under 100 searchers. The search will resume on Friday on the ground and in the air. According to volunteer searcher, Jordan Coffey, the terrain is difficult for anyone. "Probably a lot of hurt, you know. Legs hurting, back. They said that guy had back surgery, so up there he wouldn't be able to get around very far," explains Coffey. http://www.ktul.com/news/stories/1009/670854.html

On Saturday, a multi-agency search was conducted. Helicopters and an airplane were used during the search operation, which was called off on Monday. Red Oak police officer, David Cogburn took part in the search. "We roamed a large area (with) rough terrain," said Cogburn. "(We've) done a lot of searching through brush and (have been) down ravines." Cogburn said he will continue searching until the family is found. http://www.4029tv.com/news/21387742/detail.html

Texas EquuSearch. EquuSearch was contacted by Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), who asked for their help in a search for a missing Eufaula, Oklahoma family. Bobby Jamison, Sherilynn Jamison and Madyson Jamison disappeared in Latimer County, and authorities are now searching a rural area near Red Oak. http://texasequusearch.org/2009/10/osbi-request-help-in-search-for-missing-eufaula-ok-family-2/

Hundreds Help Search. … more than 100 people will search an area of Latimer County today for a missing Eufaula family. The terrain the searchers will face is described as rugged and rural. "You know it is mountainous terrain and there are people that live up there that have been lost before," says Bryan Deatherage. He is superintendent of Red Oak schools and the nearest community to today's search. http://krmg.com/localnews/2009/10/more-than-100-people-search-ru.html

Search for family accelerates.Undersheriff Matt Bohn says because black-powder hunting season begins on Saturday, it will be too risky for searchers to look for Bobby, Sherrilynn and 6-year-old Madyson Jamison. The undersheriff says about 100 searchers were scheduled to comb through the Panola Mountain area near where the pickup was found, while helicopters and a plane search from above. ://www.newson6.com/Global/story.asp?S=11373775

Searchers had hoped the drones, fitted with photographic equipment, might be able to capture an image of something that searchers on the ground might have missed. “We used the drones and took hundreds of pictures,” said Latimer County Sheriff Israel Beauchamp. “We came up with nothing.” Beauchamp said the FBI and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation are helping with the case. More than 200 volunteers assisted with the massive search on Friday, including members of the Texas Equusearch Mounted Search and Recovery Team.http://www.mcalesternews.com/local/local_story_300110700.html
