PC's parents were in the courtroom... Mom cried through the proceeding and Dad had his arm around her.

Colleen's family snuck into court avoiding the media.
Media doesn't know how they got in. Awesome.

Probably cause hearing November 22.

Ma General 190 Sec 74...He is an ADULT and no longer a juvenile. Judge declined to block him from public view.

So what was Blodgett talking about at the press conference about being unsure if they could try him as adult because of the law that changed September 1?

So what was Blodgett talking about at the press conference about being unsure if they could try him as adult because of the law that changed September 1?

Prior, ALL juvenile matters were private/sealed unless 17 or older and/or convicted of a crime with adult sentencing. 16 in Ma is a juvenile, 17 is a minor and anythign under 18 was sealed automatically from the public.

Now, this is not the case. Regardless of age, if a person is charged as an adult, they are viewed as an adult in the court system/sentencing etc.

In Ma, juveniles are not "convicted", they are found delinquent and the DYS (dept of Youth Services) takes custody of them until 17-violent crimes (or later depending on circumstances).

Being charged and arraigned in court for the 14 year old, now makes him the same as if he was 25. If convicted, he would be sentenced to State Prison...they might keep him in DYS until 18, then he is immediately transferred to prison etc.

Thanks for clarifying. His far I've been fortunate to not need to know that kind of thing.

I was reading Colleen's Twitter. She seemed like such a sweet, kind person! :( Maybe he made a move on her, and she put a stop to it? Did he go to school planning on killing her? I'm not sure why he would do it in school with cameras though. But why bring a knife in the first place? Also, I read they found blood in the bathroom, so did he follow her in there? Did she run into the bathroom to get away (not thinking it through in the moment)? Although that could just mean he walked into the bathroom after killing her. Since they had a lot of security cameras in the school, I expect we will get a somewhat clear idea of what exactly happened.

Just caught up on this. I'm so sad and although I didn't know her, I have so much love for her. I am sad for her life and passion for life being stamped out. I'm sad for this young man ruining his at 14. He is a child - this is so wrong. May she rest in peace. :-(

sigh....I had a feeling this would start. Poor young woman, she isn't even here to defend herself.

I hope her family is taking time off from the internet. I can't imagine them seeing hurtful unjustifiable speculations about their murdered daughter. :(

UPDATE: According to the Danvers Police Department's Facebook page, the 14-year old in question is from Tennessee. Philip Chism was arraigned in a Massachusetts court around noon on Wednesday. Chism attended Rossview Middle School in Clarksville for grades 6-8, completing his enrollment last year. Fox 17 is continuing coverage of this story and will have updates as they come in.

So was the body completely hidden in the recycle bin? I know schools empty out when classes end but surely there were some people around and would notice a body. I imagine the cameras are only manned during school hours.

That's just really gruesome and if it was the second floor he also carried her down the stairs (unless the school has an elevator or ramp?)

Perhaps the title of this thread should be revised/updated as it does not seem like a gun was involved in this murder.

He called him a quiet, nice kid.

"He wasn't violent at all. He was really the opposite of aggressive," Cahill said.

Cahill said there was a soccer team dinner Tuesday night that the accused teen skipped, and team members were wondering where he was.

"We're all just a family. It just amazes me really," he said. "I'm just stunned."
