GUILTY Peru - Stephany Flores, 21, murdered in Lima hotel room, 30 May 2010 #25

As much as we'd like to hear about him, I think it's fitting that no one seems to care and that nothing about him has made the news since he's settled in for his 28 years. I hope it's a very long and difficult 28 years for him. :jail:

MOO

Agreed! Until he murders another female! You know what really blows my mind.... I really think he thought after he murdered Stephany that he would get back to Aruba and get out of murder again!!

I think that's right. He had always escaped before. The invincible van der Sloot - International Playboy! "My sporter" ... in a pigs eye!! :what:

Im guessing he thought he could get away with anything, in a Third World
Country. Guess he was wrong! :woohoo:

He almost made it too he was probably relieved that he got out of Peru. He needed money to get back to Aruba I'm wondering what he did with the money he took from Stephany??? Paid the taxi drivers??

Well, Joran has a "roomie" in his prison cell now...

Van der Sloot out of solitary confinement
http://www.rnw.nl/english/bulletin/van-der-sloot-out-solitary-confinement

Joran van der Sloot has been taken out of solitary confinement in the Peruvian prison Piedras Gordas. His lawyer José Jiménez has told the ANP:

“He is no longer in a mediation cell as they call it, but he now has more room and shares his cell with another detainee.”

According to this article (translated via google), Joran seems to be "happy" in his new arrangement in Piedras Gordas.. Somehow that bothers me.. Why the heck should he be "happy" about anything after all the misery he's caused?

Van der Sloot happy with transfer

Utrecht (AP) - Joran van der Sloot is satisfied with his transfer to a different environment in the Piedras Gordas prison in Peru. In this new place since last week he sits with other prisoners. But he is not in one of the so-called pavilions with many other prisoners, let his lawyer Jose Luis Jimenez Navarro know Friday.
According to Van der Sloot's lawyer is still not happy with his transfer of the Miguel Castro Castro prison to Piedras Gordas. This happened just after he in January to 28 years in prison was sentenced. Jimenez Navarro wrote this letter to the Peruvian prison authorities INPE where he asked Van der Sloot to bring back to its previous prison.
The INPE, according to the lawyer has not responded. How many other prisoners, Van der Sloot is now located, Jimenez Navarro not know exactly. A spokesman for the INPE can not confirm the transfer, because such information in their own words they do not get the Piedras Gordas prison.

It meets his predatory instincts for prey.

Maybe now his depression will go away lol. Why should he be happy???? Bc the Flores family isn't. Sickening :(

According to this Peruvian news site: the extradition of JVS in now in progress, and it seems he would come here for "sentencing," then be returned to Peru. Although we had heard this from our side of the pond, it seems that Peru is saying the same thing.

Pretty sure he will have another scheme to thwart justice. Wonder if he might finally reveal the truth to avoid the legal consequences here, i.e., a plea bargain? Not sure of the legal possibilities.

I saw this later today. I thought, 'wow!'

Wouldn't that be something if they could extradite him to the U.S. and filed murder charges? According to the article I read, it said they COULD in the U.S. based on his now withdrawn 'confessions' to ALE.

Circumstantial evidence! :behindbar

I'm waitin'!

If he was extradited and charged with murder in the states, could the courts use his conviction in Peru against him? Also, would usa send him back to Peru, I know they say that, but would that actually happen. JMO

This all sounds a bit too easy, doesn't it?
Glad to see, though, that we have so much clout.
Justice for Natalie has been a long time coming.

Peru to U.S. on van der Sloot: Not so fast!

Birmingham, Al (WIAT) Joran van der Sloot might be brought to Birmingham to stand trial on wire fraud extortion charges stemming from the Natalee Holloway case...but Peru wants him back to serve out his sentence on a murder conviction there.

Peruvian Justice Minister César San Martín has told the media there Van der Sloot might be able to attend his trial in the US, but that he would have to return to Peru after the verdict to serve the rest of his 28-year sentence. If he were to receive a prison sentence in the US, this would have to be served after his prison term in Peru.

There will be a May 8 hearing on the preliminary extradition request by the United States. After the hearing the case will go to Peru's Supreme Court, then to the Council of Ministers.

What I'd like to know is if Peru would consider the time he spends in the US while awaiting trial and while his trial is going on as time served on his murder conviction there?

So if it takes a couple of years or more in the US to get him through the extortion trial, will that time be taken into account in Peru?

Of course Joran is going to try and fight it. But you're right justice for Natalee!!! May 30th is coming up soon, let's remember these girls!!!

Prime suspect in Aruba disappearance fights extradition - Caribbean360

LIMA, Peru, Friday May 11, 2012

Convicted killer Joran van der Sloot said on Tuesday that he will fight extradition from Peru to the United States where he faces extortion and wire fraud charges in connection with the disappearance of American Natalee Holloway in Aruba.

This week, Judge Zenaida Vilca informed Van der Sloot of the US extradition request during a closed door meeting at Piedras Gordas prison just north of Lima. The 24-year-old Dutchman told the judge he would fight extradition, his lawyer Maximo Altez, said.

"It's not good for us if Van der Sloot goes to the United States because everyone hates him there and the members of the jury will thus be biased," said Altez.

Joran Van Der Sloot’s Lawyer Says U.S. Extradition Inevitable

ABC News’ Joe Goldman in Lima, Peru, reports:

The extradition of Joran van der Sloot to the U.S. on charges of wire fraud and extortion in connection with the death of Natalee Holloway will likely take place this summer, his lawyer told ABC News today.

“The power of the United States will assure that Joran has to face a U.S. judge and I think the extradition will happen probably in two or three months,” Maximo Altez said in an exclusve interview with ABC News.

Van der Sloot, appearing nervous and thinner than in previous appearances, was marched by prison officials to the courtroom, handcuffed and refusing to answer questions posed by nearby reporters.

Altz spoke with ABC News after the court appearance and said van der Sloot was “very upset with the prospect of being extradited to the U.S. I haven’t seen Joran so down, so depressed since I took on his defense almost two years ago.”
