Juror 1 - Nothing out of the ordinary, grandfather
Juror 2 - I was intrigued. Her sister has forgotten her niece in the car because she was talking on phone to prospective juror (not for long periods of time and child was never hurt). Sounds like it was on more than one occasion. Sister also leaves a baby monitor in the back seat so she could her her baby if she forgets. Said she had an opinion on whether a parent could forget a child. DT asked her what that opinion was, but state objected to that question. Judge Staley upheld the objection. Her dad used to be police chief in Glynn County. Juror has been to Cobb County. Has been called as a witness in a couple of cases. She was extensively questioned. By far the longest interview of the day.
Juror 4 - Young (in the words of the attorneys), age 29 IIRC, worked same job for 4.5 years, has come dressed in suit and tie both days, Kilgore said he noticed and appreciated that, wants to be on jury, has had a bad experience with LE that he wished to discuss in private

Surprised #5 survived, given her (even loose) connection to Staley.

I am unable to hear much of what the defense is saying since he keeps moving away from the microphone. Going by the judge's statements and the witness testimony, it sounds like he's putting the prostitute on trial.

Juror No. 19, a middle school teacher, recounted in the semi-private questioning period known as sequestered voir dire that “the human side of me as a mom” would make it difficult for her to render a decision on the merits of what was presented in court, though she would if it were asked of her.

Juror #25, the first person questioned (Friday morning), disclosed her brother had died earlier this year and that her brother-in-law was once imprisoned for molesting a child. The brother-in-law’s conviction was particularly shocking because he’d been so good to her sister, she said. “It broke my heart.”

The soft-spoken woman, who’s semi-retired, worked for years as a domestic housekeeper on Sea Island. She also said she’s rarely missed a church service over the past three decades. During questioning, she said she had twice been pulled over for speeding, and the first occasion happened on one of her birthdays. But the officer paid her son no mind when he told him he should let her off because of her birthday, she said.

The second time, she was pulled over while “sailing” along on the way to church one evening. “The police car came out of nowhere,” she said. This time, she was given a courtesy warning. The officer, she said with a wide grin, “asked for me to pray for him in church.”

Juror 25 - has affirmed that she can set aside what she has heard to form an impartial opinion. Also affirmed she can vote for guilt or innocence. Doesn't want to see/hear graphic language or sexual content, but would be willing to in order to serve jury. Affirms again to the defense that she is able to hear both sides and view evidence to draw a conclusion. Juror 25 is asked to return October 3.

Juror 27 - has heard a lot about the case, concedes that the media can get things wrong. Says she would try to put aside what she learned but the case has haunted her since she has a grandson named Cooper. Had discussed it extensively with family and formed an opinion. Has a hard time believing anyone can forget a child in the car. She has kids and would never forget they were with her. She never left them for a minute because she is afraid of sexual predators. Son started reading the articles to her. Cannot guarantee she can put aside everything she has heard from the media. Says the story was on her local news for days and days, and also on the Today show. Son and daughter in law expressed their opinion that he is guilty. Is not sure she can look at the pictures of Cooper. She is of the opinion that he is guilty. Relates story of how her grandson was injured and says "our Cooper is luckier than the other Cooper." She is excused, the judge says to come back October 3 at 9:00 am.

Juror 33 - retired woman from the city of Brunswick. Retired in 2008.

Juror 36 - has worked as a kindergarten teacher for about seven years. Knows people who work in the court system in Glynn county. Only watches stuff like 48 hours or Lifetime documentaries. Followed Natalie Holloway case. Followed Casey Anthony case. Good experience with law enforcement. Does not think that car seats equipped with alarms would be helpful to her, "maybe others" but not her.

I'm only able to hear about half of what's going on. The witness on the stand is a law enforcement agent who contacted an escort to confirm JH phone number records and to ask her if she remembers JH or if his picture is familiar to him.

Escamillo reassured the escort that she would not be charged with any crime, and that she was not under arrest, during his sting.

The escort says she does not have Caucasian clients very often, and remembers JH specifically and describes him as being overweight.

a limiting motion by the defense regarding a prostitute who Harris allegedly met, paid for a motel room for and paid for services from in the weeks before the child’s death.

Defense counsel Maddox Kilgore said the same day that the woman couldn’t give a thorough description of Harris, calling him, “white, fat and dumpy.” Kilgore said law enforcement set up a sting to get her to talk and when presenting an image of Harris, the woman said she was 90 percent sure the man in the photo was the same person.

The just finished seating the jury, now they are going through some Motions.

Judge said earlier that opening statement start at 1:00pm, I assume they'll start right after they break from lunch, whatever time that would be, but I am assuming they will start at the earliest 1:00pm, could be later.
