Specialist Bradley Ryan Hill, ARNG

On the night of April 7, 2006 Bradley Ryan Hill went to a local club, the Electric Cowboy, with friends. After leaving the club, they continued the party at the home of one of his friends. On the morning of April 8, 2006, Ryan was found hanging from a tree with an orange electrical cord around his neck. His death was ruled a suicide, despite the blatant signs of foul play. Ryan was leaned up against a tree, with both legs sitting on top of a fence. He made several phone calls to friends stating that he needed to go to the hospital because he was bleeding. There were numerous injuries to his face and body, including a broken nose. His car was missing. He was found in different clothes than he had worn out that night. After hearing the details of the investigation, it was obvious to Ryan's family that the investigators conducted a less than thorough investigation. They have continued to dig to find answers and will not stop until the truth prevails.

On August 11, 2012 the Biography Channel featured Ryan's story in an episode of the series The UneXplained. This has given Ryan's story national attention, and will hopefully lead to the reopening of his case. https://www.facebook.com/justiceforbradleyryanhill/info

"...The two friends had gone out partying at a club that Friday night.

"The next thing I know he came up to me and said they were getting kicked out. They had done something to make the bouncers mad. He said can I have your house keys and go back to your house and do the rest of my coke. I said that's fine. I trusted him." Kimmons said.

That's the last time Kimmons says he ever saw Hill alive. Kimmons also says he crashed at a friend's house that night, and the next morning when he was driving home he saw another friend who had stayed at his house walking down the road.

"You could tell he was panicked. I asked what are you doing? I said get in the truck. What are you doing? He said Ryan is dead. And I immediately just shut up and said get in the truck and I drove to the house and when I pulled in the driveway he apparently hung himself with an extension cord. And he was hanging from a pine tree in my front yard." Kimmons said."

"...We know that a fight took place. We know his money was stolen. His car was stolen. We can't find his coat. We can't find his jacket. I mean his over shirt he wore that night. They disappeared. I can't find the St. Christopher medal I gave him before he went to Iraq." Sabrina Threet said. And that's not all - she says the cord around his neck appeared to have been put there by someone who was left handed. Her son was right handed. A private investigator she hired testified to that in court.

"The knot at the very top was a perfect knot. There is no way he could possibly stand on the top of that fence which is probably about an inch wide and tie a perfect knot and then the cord around his neck was just haphazard, just wrapped around so." Threet said.

Just hours before authorities got the call that he was dead, Hill left a desperate voicemail on his girlfriend's phone that his mother says proves he did not commit suicide."

"...Four hours before the call came in to 9-1-1 that Ryan Hill found dead, hanging from a tree outside a home in Pulaski County...he called for help. Ryan Hill had a message he left on his girlfriend's cell phone saying "I'm bleeding very bad, I made a mistake. I'm bleeding, hospital bad. I'm bleeding Brenda. I messed up. I'm gonna die. I went too far. I went too far. I'm bleeding, Brenda ahhh! Brenda take me to the hospital. Brenda I'm bleeding bad everywhere! I can't stop it."

Today is the 6th Christmas without my son! This year is different, I am full of anger!! Anger towards the cowards that were last seen with my son. That they can go on with celebrating Christmas with their families and loved ones like nothing ever happened, yet I am full of sadness because my son is gone. So to GERALD DAVIDSON, MATEO VANNUCCI and JASON ST. CLAIR, I say to you, you are very cold hearted people and cowards at that!! The last people to see Ryan alive. Just know I will never give up !!

"Ryan Hill joined the United States Army and served his country proudly. He risked his life in combat, serving a tour in the Middle East. I have read documents and reviewed related materials surrounding his death.
Suicide was not an option and I believe the Pulaski County Medical Examiner and Lead Detective Jay P. Massiet got this one wrong. I have previously written (”For The Most Part”) of my concern that there are law enforcement personnel who routinely take the easiest route to close a case. Ryan’s death is a perfect example of a detective taking the easiest route. As a retired peace officer in California, I find this to be shameful.
Where has the responsibility and obligation to serve and protect gone?"

The death of Bradley Ryan Hill is very similar to the circumstances with Patrick Rust...

"At approximately 1:00 am on March 16 the bartenders at Clueless reportedly refused to serve Patrick any more alcohol because he was intoxicated. One patron at the bar told investigators that Patrick had seemed “high” and had mentioned cocaine at one point. However, no cocaine was observed and there are no reports that Patrick was causing any trouble, only that he’d had too much to drink. When Patrick exited Clueless he left through the front door which was only used for deliveries. Regular patrons knew the back door off the parking lot was for entrance and egress. It is believed Patrick used that back door upon his arrival at the bar and during multiple smoke breaks during the evening. That is the last known time Patrick Rust was seen alive."

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what's the source for #4 (BBM)? I'm not seeing a reference to gay activity in anything that's been posted so far related to Ryan. Is it in one of the linked sources and I just missed it? Thank you in advance! :)

It definitely sounds fishy :( I pray that mother gets the investigation this young man deserves.

It sounds like he may have done something bad (he says that on the voicemail), like maybe he was the cause of a fight or smashing up of things, but something clearly happened after that that needs more explanation.

Somebody knows more about what happened. It really doesn't sound like suicide makes much sense unless someone can explain how that fits with the evidence they have. What about all the bleeding? Why were his clothes not his? Why would he tell someone to drive his car without him that night?

I wish he had dialed 911 instead of leaving voicemails :( :( I remember another case where a young lady called her father for help, left a message, and then was taken out to be murdered by people she was with after that! The injury that caused her to call her father was just the beginning that night, but she didn't know that when she called her father :(

You're right Jaime, there is no direct reference to gay activity in Ryan's case. All we have are his statements that he 'went too far'. We are left to wonder what that means. My assumption is that going 'too far' refers to a sexual advance that led to a severe beating.

My biggest question is how did he get from the phone, that he called his girlfriend from, back to the house. And yes, why didn't he call 911 for help when he had the chance...

There's so much more we don't know. I encourage all Websleuth members to put their heads together on this one and see what we can uncover to help his mother obtain justice.

Thank you for clarifying! :) Thinking through some additional potential meanings for "went too far":

(1) He was drunk and, in his intoxication, picked a fight with (or annoyed the heck out of) the wrong person.

(2) He was drunk and "went too far" in his coke consumption and see #1.

(3) He was drunk, "went too far" in his coke consumption, and befriended the wrong person/people. Intoxication has a tendency to make everyone either your best friend or your worst enemy. Maybe he befriended the wrong people on his route to the house, thinking they were going to party together.

(4) There's a sexual angle to this, whether heterosexual or homosexual, that spiraled out of control.

(5) Perhaps he was lured into a situation under false pretenses and jumped for his drugs, money, etc.?

Just a few off the top of my head. Not wedded to any of them. I definitely don't think this was a suicide. IMO, etc.

Yes, you are right on... whatever it was that went too far, he took a severe beating but survived, left the area and called for help. How the heck did he end up back at the house dead. They obviously wanted to cover up whatever happened by making it look like a suicide. The timing of it is very curious....did someone come back looking for him? Did they find him dead or finish him off? And what's with the local police? Even to the untrained eye this is suspicious... So many questions and no answers coming... Four hours from the time he called for help til he was reported found dead.

I checked out these guys and they all seem to be military and have moved off to other locations, one of them is even an EMT. He could have potentially saved Ryan....

Oh no, I thought I was reading one of the older cold cases here due to the similarities, so I had to go look it up. It is similar to the 1986 death of Keith Warren and Mark Findley. (About 5 pages back under cold cases category.) I may have misspelled that last victim's name. Here is that thread: [ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129442"]MD MD - 1986 hanging of Keith Warren - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community[/ame] It happened too long ago to be connected, and in another state, but it is similar. How awful!

So, so, sad. It seems so clear what "could" have happened, and yet no one is looking any further into it. :( I do hope that all records and what amount of evidence that was collected remain and this family can get some answers.

Thank you. Yes, there are quite a few similarities, including the change in clothes which is so odd. What I find particularly disheartening, is that this case is already 25 years cold, without being any closer to the truth.

Ryan's death was ruled a suicide. HOWEVER, the physical evidence does not support this finding. Ryan's family and friends want and need questions answered.
