NY - Search for escaped convicted killers, David Sweat & Richard Matt, Dannemora #4

I wonder if they have any antibiotics with them (I'm serious). They must have cuts, scrapes, blisters, bites from ticks and god knows what else. Maybe they'll get infections and die. And they must be sooooooooo extremely hungry. And if they're carting food, they'd have to worry about bears! It would sure be handy to have a Z-pak or two.

I would surrender if I was them, it sounds miserable. I just wish they were suffering with high temperatures (it's 100 here!), but I wouldn't wish that on the searchers.

I worry for people who will be opening their cabins there over the next days. I wonder how many peeps will decide not to go until the killers are located. You couldn't pay me to be in those woods with M&S on the loose.

Ticks can cause Lyme disease & people have been known to die from it. I have a question for those of you living in New York or anywhere else in the north. Do the mosquitoes up there carry West Nile virus? Here in the south we have numerous deaths every year from the mosquitoes carrying West Nile. Most victims are elderly but it's not necessarily limited to them.............anyone with a compromised immune system. Wouldn't it be something if they killed themselves by escaping?

Quite frankly because I was Central Callout Clerk (computer operator) while at Wende Correctional Facility from 1994-2001 serving 15 to life for cocaine possession. I was released in 2003 and have worked at a criminal defense law office since. I am in frequent contact with inmates at all DOCCS prisons, and served time at Attica after Wende. There is no internet inside, period. Internet access is limited to the Guidance Unit where no inmates go unescorted and no inmates ever ever ever touch the computer there. If you get caught with a cell phone (for example) that hypothetically was thrown over the wall, you can expect 2-5 YEARS in the SHU. Having said that, every max prison allows prisoners to hang sheets for privacy (who wants to watch inmates use the toilet?). It's CO's discretion how long it can remain up. "Home cooked meals" is media BS. Every now and again a CO might give you his leftovers or, if you did a solid (such as cleaned up the CO mess area or were a block clerk), half of his sub sandwich. CO's aren't bringing home cooked meals in for anyone. In honor block there is usually a stove top or hot plate shared by anywhere from 17 to 60 guys and they can cook food. Raw meat is prohibited and the best you'll do is raw vegetables (See DIr. 4911 below). Does contraband get smuggled in? Yes, no different than anywhere. "Street" clothes are allowed in every prison, every inmate: http://www.doccs.ny.gov/Directives/4911.pdf (see A-5, A-6). Any type of uncensored communication with the outside is a HUGE no-no and will land an inmate in SHU for years and get the CO terminated plain and simple.

If half of what we've heard about this prison was true, it was more a country club than a prison.

OK...so now we know what Gene Palmer's involvement was. He didn't put the meat through the metal detector. According to CNN.

Your version of prison reality is reassuring, and I hope accurately reflects what goes on. I was referring to a post here by someone very familiar with Clinton who has a different understanding about the laxness there. Given what we've been hearing from officials - and that isn't the whole story- I'm tending to think too many of the rules and safeguards you mention simply weren't in place at Clinton, whether internet was accessible or not. Hope that's wrong, or at least completely different since this fiasco began to unfold.

I am completely SHOCKED that things like that were happening at that crazy prison - Tilly, a civilian, smuggling in frozen burger which a REAL GUARD never scanned. The fox staged video with the delivery person having his deliver being PULLED UP THE WALL BY A ROPE OMGGGGGGGGGGGG ! Nothing like that would ever go in this state fyi.

WILL SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME: Tilly and hubby make ~ $115,000/year. Why, oh why are taxpayers footing the bill for a public defender for her??????????? It makes zero sense to me - I can't even wrap my mind around why in the heck that can be happening !!!!!!!!!!

Trust me, it is not. No one "requests" to be transferred to Clinton. It is one of those places guards threaten to have you transferred to. I've heard the phrase "pack your ski boots" on numerous occasions, and no prisoner responded kindly. Probably considered the top 3 worst max general population facilities in the state, alongside Comstock (Great Meadow) and Attica.

There are always inmates on the hustle who get some latitude. Sometimes, raw meat is "smuggled" from the mess hall (i.e., a guard looks the other way) and it's possible that's how hacksaw blades, etc., got in. But I can't imagine anyone serving time at Clinton calling it "lax."

The same Source that told CNN that Tillie admitted to LE that she put the tools in the frozen meat a week before the escape & that the CO wasn't aware, also told CNN that Tillie approached the Admins and asked that Matt & Sweat be placed in cells next to each other. She vouched for them, etc.

And voila!

Tillie certainly wielded a lot of power and influence in that facility! Lol

Don't you find it interesting that Tillie was such a pushover and she was working with hardened criminals serving life sentences in a one of the worst max facilities? You would think all of the guards would have rigorous training to keep the prisoners straight. I wish someone would ask her husband about the reports she was investigated earlier for her interactions with Sweat and Matt.

Margaret Street closed from Court Street to Broad Street in Plattsburgh; no public risk, police said, but won't give details yet.

That certainly seems plausible, especially in honor block. When a cell opens up through transfer or disciplinary (i.e., inmate gets kicked out of honor block), they will routinely let a "senior" inmate have choice of the cell.

Do they not still have those patio courts at Clinton, that honor inmates earn?... where they even have some furniture, can socialize outside and barbecue and have card games and such?

I am really so confused! I thought she was a civilian employed there...as a seamstress (supervisor or whatever).

How in the $#$% is she capable of making those kinds of requests, and having them carried out? Or have the ability to get hamburger meat in??

I am gonna need some answers. For real, for real!!!

FYI this is NEAR the hospital but not surrounding it.
Just in case they were transporting people I wanted to see if it made sense.
However you would think they would block ALL access to the hospital if that's what it was. :twocents:

This looks like it's a business area. Restaurants and things like that.

WPTZ reports this is a meth lab, unrelated to #PrisonBreakNY search.

IMO, "Source" not too pleased with Lyle's interview this morning

I don't know the questions, but the answer to them all is: Tillie did it.

Part of Margaret St, Plattsburgh, closed for investigation of possible meth lab. See, there is other news besides escapees. #PrisonBreakNY

Well, possibly since they have had no escapes there in 15 years caused them to let their guard down, literally. JMO, there's no way killers should be allowed on the honor block.
