Because no one is talking about it. I'm not sure why some cases are thrown in the spotlight, while others are shoved to the side. I used to question when people said that the only cases you hear about involve pretty little white girls, I mean, that couldn't be so, right? But you can see that in the media this is definitely the case. If Luke were a little blonde-haired, blue-eyed baby doll, then this would be all over the news. I know that isn't the case on websleuths, that all cases are discussed to some point, but even in the forums here, it seems as if only certain cases catch on and get people talking.

Well, on to page 3! Not one word, not one clue, just a 2 year old out and about with his daddy? Marla, you are so right. It is a shame to see it and agree, but IMO you hit the nail on the head.

There are hundreds of cases of parental abductions that never even grace the forums at websleuths. At least Luke has some visibility here unlike so many unmentioned others. Custody issues can be tricky. Was there any order in place when Luke was taken? He is a cute little boy. I saw his missing flier up at our local Sams Club this week.

I think parental abductions don't get as much attention as people assume they won't hurt the children.

I see your points on not getting the attention since it was a parental abduction. I know at 52 years of age, I wouldn't and probably couldn't run after a 2 year 24/7, especially in a camper!!! Luke's father, Monty is 50....and Luke was still being nursed when he was taken. Gah!!!! It's just such a selfish thing to do!!!

Yes.
If no custody order was in place at the time the child was removed, then technically no crime has been committed.
The mother will need to have an emergency order giving her full custody and then the police will do more to assist her.
Custody issues are still considered 'civil' not criminal issues, and unless the mother can show the child is danger LE is unlikely to spend valuable resources on it.
Not saying it's right, don't shoot the messenger.
Mother has several legal options, but will need legal advice to proceed.

I tend to slightly disagree. I think it is more about the culture of the missing. Look at kortne stouffer---gorgeous, blonde, young----yet no news, media attention, facebook attention, etc. It's b/c there were drugs possibly involved and she was part of the hippie culture. I think low-income people don't get enough awareness, not necessarily because of race (as the only factor at least). People tend to judge lower income cultures more harshly IMO....ie: somehow they deserved what they got, bought it upon themselves, or were just being "stupid". I agree here at WS there a lot more cases covered---i personally go by age and location (too much chicago news fills our airwaves and I see nothing about missing persons except on nancy g.).
Also, I think it's a wonderful thing to not show their pictures on the main page b/c I think we'd see the same kind of 'judgements' here (as we sometimes do when a thread has been going for awhile)
Anyway, I hope this cute little man is SAFE! NSS is completely right and it doesn't sound "illegal"...

Washington County Deputy Christopher Marston said three deputies served a search warrant on Monty Turner's parents' farm property and searched for about two hours before locating the father and son hiding under carpet padding in a box truck parked on the property
