Truck owner claims police were present when stolen truck arrived with a dead body in it. This one is getting weird.

Miami police would not confirm the details of Rodriguez's account. Homestead police would only confirm that the body was discovered while investigating the missing vehicle, but would not say whether police officers were present when the truck was returned.

The discovery was made at about 3 a.m. in the area of Southwest 320th Street and Northwest 7th Avenue...
http://www.nbcmiami.com/news/Body-Wr...159408355.html
I was wondering how a body would be discovered at 3am!
"No, I do not think police pursued a suspect," said Homestead spokesman Det. Fernando Moralez, who referred questions to Miami-Dade."
" the gas level in the truck was lower some mornings than it had been the night before, leading them to believe the truck was being stolen while they slept and then returned"
http://abcnews.go.com/US/fla-murder-...6#.T-Du_rXwsrU
If police thought he had just stolen a truck and returned it I can see why they might not have pursued him. The man had his truck and they had the perps finger prints...
Bet they were SHOCKED upon finding the body.
I don't get how a vehicle could be "stolen" nightly while they were sleeping??? Didn't they hear anything? Sounds like they were siphoning the gas instead....???
Why does it sound like the man's story and the police report don't add up?
I can't imagine a man draw a gun with police present and not getting shot himself!! Not from what I know about HOMESTEAD!!!

FL - Man says stolen truck was returned with a body inside

Man says his stolen truck was returned with a body inside
A strange and gruesome murder mystery has developed after a body was found inside a Florida man's truck after it was reported stolen. Miami resident Jesus Rodriguez says police came to his home early Monday morning to investigate the theft, and saw a man return the vehicle with the plastic-wrapped body of a woman inside.

I find it interesting that the truck owner stated that he and an officer pursued the suspect, however, the police spokesman stated, ""No, I do not think police pursued a suspect," Moralez said.
jmo, but I think there's something hinky about the truck owner's story, yep.

What a coincidence if his truck had been illicitly used at night time for three weeks and the police just happened to be there right at the moment when it was returned with a body inside. Did he just report it to the police that morning?
Why was the truck returned? Why not just dumped somewhere?

This article has a picture of Ms. Cotton. http://miami.cbslocal.com/2012/06/20...-in-homestead/
The photo matches a picture on a mugshot site that was taken 6/12/2012.
