Here's hoping this week there will be answers and some form of closure for Novy's family.

So, I heard today on radio news that a human bone was found last Thursday in a 'popular Gold Coast waterway'. A recreational diver found it off The Spit, and handed it in to police. It has gone in for forensic testing.

Could be anyone, I guess. But I thought of Novy. :(

Presuming they are speaking of the Southport Spit, unless there is another one?

It is unknown whether the remains are male or female, or how long they had been in the water.

A police spokesman told Nine News they suspected the bones could belong to at least one of two missing persons – a 16-year-old girl named Kaitlin Hyatt who disappeared from The Spit two years ago or fisherman Gavin Studwell whose body was never recovered after his boat upturned in the same area.

I just read that article and thought of Novy. But not knowing the Goldcoast at all is it close to where she lived? Or where her car was?

I think Courier Mail has been reading WS... :)

Police investigating whether bones found at Gold Cast Seaway belong to Novy Chardon

April 24, 2014 12:00AM

POLICE are investigating if remains found in the Gold Coast Seaway could be those of missing mum and suspected murder victim Novy Chardon

But Major and Organised Crime Squad chief Inspector Scott Knowles confirmed police were examining the bones for a possible match to Mrs Chardon, who disappeared from her Gold Coast home in February last year

"Given the volume of water that runs through the seaway and the strength of the current on the beach, the bones could have come from anywhere and we are exploring all avenues."

Police investigating Mrs Chardon's disappearance have said they believe the mother-of-two was murdered and that more than one person was responsible for killing her and disposing of her body.

In 2004, Gold Coast builder Clive Nicholson allegedly confessed to police that he had killed his wife Julie and dumped her body in the seaway.

Police say bones could have been washed into the seaway from the ocean or the nerang River - or even expelled by a shark.

Novy lived at Upper Coomera. The bones were found in Gold Coast Seaway. There are quite a few rivers & waterways throughout the area....& a lot of sharks!

I first thought of Novy when I heard a bone had been found. I really hope its not as I would like the persons involved to be brought to justice.

Could Novy Chardon and Kerry Whelan's case be similar?
Both wealthy.
Both owned businesses
Bruce Burrell was a previous employee
Kerry met with Bruce Burrell at a location and was never seen again.
Did Novy have someone around like Bruce Burrell either a paid 'hit' or someone looking for money?
I often see some similarities.

Can't believe I've been away for weeks, come back and there's STILL no trial for JC, STILL no Novy...

I was thrilled beyond reason to return to the news that Steven James Bradley was arrested after --thirty years-- for the murder of Michelle Buckingham. I really had my fingers crossed for good news here, also. Oh well.

I hope it's not thirty years before Novy finds justice because it's 100% likely at least one of the people responsible for her death won't live that long.

The bone thing made my heart sink. If it wasn't her, then it's somebody else. So sad..

On one of the news channels tonight it was mentioned the bone found in Gold Coast Seaway is female after a forensic result came back from John Tonge centre.

I'd imagine there'll be a report out later tonight.

In the meantime there's another family who are hoping the bone belongs to their daughter. So sad :(

A GRIEVING family is praying a human bone found in the Seaway a day after what would have been their missing daughter’s 19th birthday means their girl can finally come home.

Katelyn Hyland was just 16 when she disappeared during a beach swim at The Spit in 2012

As sad as it may be that someone is probably going to receive the horrible news that evidence of their female loved one being deceased has been confirmed, I hope that it is of some help toward catching any perp(s) involved ... and in giving the family some eventual peace of mind (in Novy's case, that means her blood relatives and dear friends, to me).

It must be a nightmare having a loved one missing, and not have any idea what has happened to them, if they are alive or dead, where they are. And, sadly, there are so many instances of this.

This could have Allison Baden-Clay bone if the flood & current had pulled her into the river. It could have taken years & the little bit hurt hubby could have been lapping it up with the children's new step mum TM on Allison's life insurance. Grrrrr.

Marine biologists called in to examine human femur found in Seaway

April 26, 2014 12:01AM

MARINE biologists will be called in to examine a human femur found in the Gold Coast Seaway to determine if the bone could have been expelled by a shark.

Police are “almost certain” the leg bone found in about 10m of water off the northern wall of the Seaway entrance last Thursday belongs to a *female

“There are so many possibilities. Nothing, no matter how improbable, can be ruled out,’’ he said..

“We will go wherever this leads us. If we have to take the search international, we will.

“This is someone’s daughter, someone’s wife and we are determined to return these remains to the loved ones.”

Police have confirmed more bones have been found by a diver in the Gold Coast Seaway. They're on the way to the John Tong Centre for testing

I don't have the link to Gold Coast Bulletin, but during the past week it has stated that only one of the bones found is human - that of a female. Other bones belonged to an animal.

So we wait for the DNA testing on that lone female bone.

This was only tweeted yesterday, so I'm thinking they have found more.

Sleeping, I'm not sure, but I think the Gold Coast Bulletin or Gold Coast Channel 9 News reported this quite a few days ago.

Gold Coast Bulletin today states that the human female bone is being given priority and there should be an outcome within 5 days.

I called Southport Magistrates Court today. They have John William Chardon scheduled for a hearing on the 18th of June at 9am.

They couldn't provide any details regarding the charges but I imagine it's part of the proceedings in this trial:

The husband of missing Gold Coast woman Novy Chardon will face a trial in July on child sex charges.

John Chardon, 66, has been committed to stand trial in the week commencing July 14 after a brief mention of his case at the Southport District Court on Friday.
