A western Kentucky sheriff says a teenage boy has been killed and his mother abducted by an ex-boyfriend and found dead in Ohio...

The sheriff says 17-year-old Michael Mahoney's body was found by authorities in his home Friday morning in Mayfield, Kentucky...

He says the bloodied Kim Thomas tried to flee at a food mart in Paducah, Kentucky, on Friday morning, but Froman caught her, put her in the vehicle and took off.

A woman and teen are dead after a multistate search that ended in a shooting and traffic jam on I-75 in Warren County Friday.

Authorities said 41-year-old Terry Froman of Brookport, Illinois, shot and killed 17-year-old Michael Mahoney at the teen's home in Mayfield, Kentucky Friday morning. Deputies said he then took the teen's mother hostage and left the scene.

The kidnapping of 34-year-old Kim Thomas by her estranged boyfriend Froman led police on a massive search that ended when he was pulled over near mile marker 31 just before 1:30 p.m., Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers said... Thomas, a licensed nurse, was found dead inside the vehicle.

Earlier Friday, authorities found the body of her 17-year-old son, Michael "Eli" Mohney, in the living room of his mother's home in Mayfield, Ky., while checking on Thomas after she failed to report to work, Redmon said. There were signs of a struggle, he said.

"What we believe, apparently the son intervened and tried to protect his mother, and it cost him his life," the sheriff said. The teenager suffered multiple gunshot wounds...

Mohney attended Mayfield High School... "He's as good as good gets," said Principal Don Hubbard.

"Gosh, we'll miss him, you know?" Thomas said. "He had a spark that was infectious. He's hugging somebody, kissing them all the time. Just had that effervescent personality. He just loved people and they loved him. So did Kim. He got that from Kim. Kim was that way"...

Family said Jackson was a loving nurse and also has a nine-year-old son who is Eli Mohney's half-brother...

Paducah police were watching a video of the naked woman getting out of a white 2004 GMC Yukon and then being forced to get back inside the vehicle. The sheriff's office said KSP dispatch received another call that Terry Froman, 41, of Brookport, Ill., had been to his mother's house in Paducah and was covered in blood. The call said he was very uncooperative in telling his mother what he had been involved in.

Terry Froman, 41, of Brookport, Ill., remains in a Middletown hospital recovering from what authorities said was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the shoulder...

Mohney was shot twice in the stomach and in the head. Hargrove said investigators think he was first shot in the stomach and that Froman stood over the teen and shot him in the back of the head "execution-style" as he lay injured.

"It looked like he'd gotten up (from bed) to help his mom," Hargrove said. "This one bothered me. He was a good kid, an honor student. There is no reason for this. (Froman's) intentions were made and he wasn't going to be deterred from that."

Ah, once again, the non-fatal attempt at suicide (after committing homicide). Somehow they manage to kill someone else, but can't figure out how to kill themselves - with a gun, nonetheless. Geez, try your head next time.

And these guys always do it in the wrong order. Should be suicide first and then... no one else dies.

A southwest Ohio grand jury has indicted a 41-year-old man on murder charges in the slaying last month of a Kentucky woman on Interstate 75.

Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell said Monday that Terry Froman of Brookport, Illinois, could face the death penalty if convicted of aggravated murder. He was indicted on two aggravated murder counts, two kidnapping counts and a firearms discharge count...

Froman also faces charges in Kentucky of murder and kidnapping. Authorities said Thomas' 17-year-old son, Michael Mohney, was found dead at her Mayfield, Kentucky, home... Fornshell said he and Graves County Commonwealth's Attorney David Hargrove have been in regular communication about the case. "Because he's (Froman) already here, it makes the most sense for us to proceed here with our case first," Fornshell said.

It hurts my heart that he killed her innocent young son. RIP Young Man. I know you tried to save your mom, and I am happy you are together again. :rose: :rose:

By the end of 2015, an Illinois man accused of shooting a mother and son could have to fight for his life in both Ohio and Kentucky.

Terry Froman, 41, of Illinois, is facing the death penalty if convicted of aggravated murder, two counts of kidnapping and discharging a firearm on prohibited premises, for the Sept. 12 fatal shooting of his ex-girlfriend. His three-weekend trial in Warren County is scheduled to begin Aug. 3...

“I am 99 percent sure (we will seek the death penalty) here,” said David Hargrove, Commonwealth Attorney in Graves County, Ky... “We know it could be a year before Ohio gets done with him and we can get him down here,” he said. “So there is no hurry at this point.”

New attorneys for an Illinois man facing the death penalty if convicted of a 2014 shooting on Interstate 75 want the specifications elevating the crimes to death dismissed.(...)The defense attorneys argue in the recent motion that the specification that the crime resulted in the death of two or more people, which elevates the possible penalty to death, is not valid because one death occurred in Kentucky.
