Where would you go, barefoot and wearing pyjamas, mid-winter, in Darnum, between 11:30pm and 7am, without any personal belongings including a mobile phone, and not be seen for more than a week and a half?
I don't know which premises she disappeared from, but this is the street. I can see why they fixated on the river:

i do not believe she took her own life, far to many circumstances however i heard it's going around my old town (where i grew up) her fiancee murdered her? but i highly doubt we will ever find out the truth. All i know is she was a beautiful person and now she's gone.
