CA CA - Los Angeles, WhtFem UP8269, 60-70, at recycling center, Sep'10

Something I don't recall seeing at NamUs, the now removed FB page or any of the MSM articles:

She was wrapped in multiple layers of plastic and sheets with the word "Angelica" imprinted on the sheets. May have had a splenectomy or cholecystectomy in the past. Age range of 60+ years of age.

The above info pulled from the ME link webrocket posted in the previous post.

I wonder what Angelica imprinted on the sheets means. A brand, a motel or hospital, or perhaps someplace in Mexico?

Angelica appears to be a brand of bed linens provided to the health care industry.

As the leader in healthcare
linen and laundry services,
we specialize in products
such as bed linen, towels,
patient gowns, scrubs and
dust control.

Do they sell to private customers at all or only in big bulks to hospitals etc.?

I suppose the sheets could have been stolen from or discarded by a hospital and been in private use for some time but my first thought was, is there anybody missing from a nursing home?

I didn't see anything to indicate the linens are sold to private customers and you could be right about someone missing from a nursing home.

My immediate thoughts were someone who had recently lost their medical coverage.
Someone who perhaps lost hospitalization, long term rehab, maybe their home health care or hospice nurse.

With a 50,000 reward offered for this case it is hard to understand why the jewerly isn't posted at NamUs and the details of the linens didn't make any of the other sources with info on this UID.

I wonder what happened with this FB page that vanished? I never got a response to my email asking about that.

I just came across this article from September and it mentions the FB page now being defunct. Unusual for them to take it down when it could have helped?

LAPD Still Looking for Info on 'Recycled' Jane Doe Corpse, Dental Work May Hold Clues

It's been nearly a year since the Los Angeles Police Department began working on the case of an unidentified, decomposed remains of an adult female found dumped at a Downtown recycling facility. Now detectives are releasing information about the Jane Doe corpse's dental work, in the hopes dental professionals may be able to shed a light on this unsolved case.

The badly decomposed body was found a the L.A. Recycling center on September 10, 2010. Initially the remains were indistinguishable in regards to the person's gender or age, however an autopsy ultimately determined Jane Doe #52 was a Caucasian female (possibly Native American or Hispanic) between the ages of 50 and 70. Officials ruled the case a homicide, however how, when, or why she was killed remains unknown.

...

this missing person, Sharon Lynn Burns popped up on Namus in the past couple of days. the demographics match or are close. only downside is that Sharon was noted to have a transient lifestyle that might preclude her getting good dental care.

I emailed the LA Coroner's office with the information and they acknowledged receipt.

Sharon's namus page is gone/restricted. the UID's is still up and running so I guess that was not a match.

What about Ada Odell?

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/o/odell_ada.html

It's a bit of a stretch because she's from FL and the UID was found in CA. It sounds like her boyfriend was missing for a few weeks after her disappearance, perhaps they could have traveled to FL during this time. Also, Ada was just diagnosed with cancer which could explain the access to hospital sheets. Although, I guess they probably would've mentioned cancer in the UID's profile.

There's certainly a strong resemblance and I don't see anything in the circumstances to rule it out. And she's the right size.

Ada's tattoos give me pause, however; there's no mention of Jane Doe having ink.

Thanks for the side-by-side! Yes, the tattoos gave me pause as well. However the body conditions for the UID are listed as not recognizable, and the post mortem interval is weeks. I was thinking that the UID may have been so badly decomposed that tattoos were not visible. What do you all think?

http://touch.latimes.com/#section/-1/article/p2p-81332299/

Four years after the body of Jane Doe No. 52 was found on a conveyor belt at a recycling center in Chinatown, Los Angeles Police Det. Brian Putman stood outside a public works building late Wednesday afternoon and addressed a crowd of officers and explorers...

Putman gave a brief summary of the 2010 homicide case: The woman's body was discovered Sept. 10 as employees were sorting recyclables on a conveyor belt. Her naked body had been wrapped in several layers of bed linens and trash bags, then dumped in a recycling container...

Over the years, Putman said investigators have been able to narrow down the area where they believe the body may have been dumped, but have turned up nothing in the way of leads.

I thought I had a match here. First, it is not clear if the reward is still being offered, I emailed a detective at the LAPD and Daniel Machian at the LA County Coroner's office with this potential match and I asked about the reward. I still don't know about the reward.

Katherine Major was missing from WY but had ties to So. Cal. She had the right height and had an abdominal scar.

https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/18171/5/

I heard back from Mr. Machian and they ruled out Katherine on dentals.

this UID makes me think that she was long term married to an abuser... probably mostly mental, with some physical but not broken bones type of physical... the abuser probably was middle class employed, maybe in the public sector but not LE. had good benefits but not the best income (hence the good dental work but the cheap ring) abuser had isolated her over the years and he killed her for some catalystic reason.

According to the FB page put out by LE - LE believes she was not without means for any extended period of time.

Three names added to the ruleouts:

Lourdes Dubyak 1956 California
Katherine Major 1955 Wyoming
Ada Odell 1960 Florida

Her Namus page indicates she has DNA and dentals, with fingerprints available elsewhere.

Alas, she is now like all of the LA County cases from the 70s and 80s (before the advent of DNA) with very little to work from.
