How many hours of a drive would it be from Vancouver to Prince George?

I think RubyReds right on the money with those 4 points but what would the motive be here? Robbery?

I wonder if there's a chance they parked the RV in an out of the way place while the left for a few days to go into Prince George, then while they were gone somebody robbed and destroyed it?

Edson to Abbotsford is a 10-14 hour drive, depending on what route you take. Either way, you'd drive along the BC/AB border and would pass through Kamloops and Chilliwack. It would make no sense for them to drive all the way to Prince George (7 hours from Edson) down to Abbotsford. That would be a 16 hour drive. In addition to the few extra hours, you'd be going way out of your way. The way to Abbotsford from Edson is basically a / shape, while Edson-Prince George-Abbotsford is like an upside down L. Why go way out west when you can just go SW to your destination?

How many hours of a drive would it be from Vancouver to Prince George?

It's about 10 hours, or 734 km. Prince George is almost directly north of Vancouver. Abbotsford is an hour east of Vancouver.

RCMP accused of botching search for missing couple

Gary Godwin, the RCMP spokesman in Prince George, said a couple came in Tuesday to report seeing the vehicle, but were allowed to leave the detachment before they could be questioned further. Police are now asking that couple to come back.

Godwin said Thursday that civilian staffers took the information from the tipster at the front desk but were likely unaware of the public pleas for help being made by the RCMP and McCann family members in Edmonton that day, pleas that appeared on websites and on TV.

“I don’t know if the civilian personnel were up on the file, whether they followed the news or not,” said Godwin.

Now we’re having difficulty locating this couple (the tipsters). We don’t know if they’ve gone on holidays. We don’t know if their cellphone died.

“We’re having a devil of a job because we do want to speak with them.”

Good grief, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

The signs were there, he said: an expensive motorhome torched in the bush with a hitch but no vehicle behind it, owned by a law-abiding elderly couple that now couldn’t be located.

“There was no instinctive reaction by police officers,” said Pitt.

“The whole forensics of that crime scene were adulterated, ignored or sloughed off as just another burnt vehicle down that road.

“Nothing fit from the get-go. And to wait five days for the formal process of a missing persons form to cross your desk before you do anything is a disgrace.”

When police couldn’t reach the McCanns at their home, said Pitt, they should have knocked on a few doors.

Had they walked next door, they would have found Gottfried Rohmkopf, who told reporters this week he has known the McCanns for almost five decades and that Lyle had told him numerous times about the upcoming motorhome trip.

I figured these news stories would be coming out .

I'm just getting caught up this evening. I have to say that when I read about the campground attendant knocking on the door of the motorhome, to no reply, it gave me the chills. I could picture the perp(s) lurking inside. Somehow, I don't think the McCanns were still around at that time though. :(

Does anyone (carbuff?) know how far that type of motorhome can go on a full tank of gas?

Tip about missing couple's SUV dismissed by police

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/edmonton/story/2010/07/15/edmonton-missing-couple-rcmp.html

Two people who told police they saw an SUV belonging to a missing Alberta couple in Prince George, B.C., say staff at the local RCMP detachment weren't interested in the information when they reported it on Tuesday.

"They said well, that was last Thursday and we came in on Tuesday and they said it was irrelevant because it was four days ago, five days ago," Diana Bjorklund told CBC Radio in Prince George.

Sheesh!

Not without knowing what size and model of engine it had in it and whether they had supplemental gas tanks installed -- and whether it was regular or diesel, for that matter. In general those things get very poor (as in 10mpg or worse) gas mileage.

On those mountain roads, mileage would probably be worse.

I really wouldn't want to guess without knowing more about the vehicle.

Edited to add: after some poking around, it looks like this model Gulfstream probably had one of the large GM conventional engines that gets around 8-9 miles a gallon, with an 80-gallon tank, which would take them 640 miles of average highway driving.

I wonder if they made it to yellowhead and something happened there? I don't think anyone jumped in the RV while he was getting gas, but it is possible.

I would think it most likely that they pulled in someplace to camp and were taken then. Then the perps drove the whole rig to a new spot to dispose of it and drove away in the vehicle.

It is about 12 hours.

Ruby, I remember reading Yellowhead, but IMO it referred to Yellowhead Highway, not a city/town in Edmonton, so I believe that "G" is not correct, just looking at the map you posted, the location of "G" doesn't make sense.
